About The Position

Quail Park of Lynnwood is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Maintenance and Housekeeping teams at our retirement community in Lynnwood. This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our residents, families, and staff. As Director of Engineering, you’ll oversee all aspects of facility upkeep, capital projects, regulatory compliance, vendor relations, safety programming, and team management—all with the goal of creating a beautiful and well-functioning community for our seniors to call home.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility maintenance required; experience in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Prior leadership or management experience.
  • Solid skills in plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Knowledge of state licensure requirements for Assisted Living communities and applicable safety codes.
  • Must meet all health, background, and TB screening requirements.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift, move, and perform physical tasks as needed (with or without accommodation).

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preventative maintenance for all systems: HVAC, fire safety, lighting, elevators, pool/spa, plumbing, landscaping, kitchen/laundry equipment, and vehicles.
  • Lead capital improvement projects; manage bids, contracts, budget, and schedules
  • Selects, negotiate, and manage4 vendor and service contracts for building systems and major maintenance services.
  • Oversees building - fire and life safety inspections; ensures documentation.
  • Partners with Engineering to schedule projects, coordinate work that impacts residents, and align on operational priorities.
  • Lead maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry teams; hire, train, and evaluate staff.
  • Long-term infrastructure management, system performance, compliance, and capital planning.
  • Administer contracts with vendors and manage the Engineering and Housekeeping Department budget.
  • Direct the Community Safety Program including emergency preparedness and compliance with OSHA.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and local building maintenance regulations.
  • Monitor cleanliness and safety in all common areas; conduct regular inspections.
  • Support executive leadership and contribute as part of the Management Team.
