About The Position

At Greenboard, we’re building the future of financial compliance. Greenboard provides financial firms with an all-in-one compliance platform, replacing the need to buy and manage 4+ separate SaaS tools.
As Director of Engineering, you’ll lead both technical execution and engineering culture. This is a hands-on role, especially in the early months — you’ll be deep in the codebase, owning systems end-to-end, and setting the bar for quality, speed, and reliability as we scale.
This is a full-time, on-site role located in NYC.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a senior engineer (Staff / Principal / Senior IC background)
• Strong backend or full-stack engineering experience
• Experience architecting and operating production systems
• Experience owning on-call and production reliability
• Willingness to be hands-on in an on-site startup environment

Nice To Haves

• Startup experience (Series A–Series B) or previous founder
• Experience building or scaling early engineering teams
• AWS or similar cloud infrastructure experience
• Experience working with regulated or data-intensive systems

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale Greenboard’s engineering function
• Write, review, and ship production code (especially early on)
• Own system reliability, uptime, and incident response
• Make architectural decisions that balance speed and durability
• Build and scale secure, high-volume systems for regulated financial data
• Partner closely with product and leadership on execution and prioritization
• Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team
• Establish a culture of accountability and extreme ownership
