Blakehurst is seeking a Director of Environmental Services to join our team! This hands-on leader is primarily responsible for the care and cleaning of all aspects of the physical plant; controlling the quality and timeliness of all work originating in the laundry; hiring, training and supervising all housekeeping and laundry personnel, procuring supplies, chemicals and equipment, assisting with budget preparation, and operating within budgetary guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school education required.
  • Five years of housekeeping supervisory experience and/or three years as a Director of Housekeeping in an institutional or retirement facility.
  • Must have the ability to think analytically and make independent and accurate decisions in solving problems and improving services.
  • Must be proficient in maintaining and tracking deep cleaning and carpet cleaning status, can create actionable reports to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction and monitor team productivity.
  • Must possess advanced technical skills, including strong knowledge of building systems, safety regulations, and modern facilities management practices.
  • Must also demonstrate advanced computer proficiency, including expertise in Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to use technology and data to support operational efficiency and high-quality service delivery in an upscale retirement community.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Environmental Services industry included but not limited to the following areas: The use of floor equipment, carpet care techniques, chemical use and laundry equipment.
  • All new hires must be able to pass our preemployment screening process, which includes a fitness for duty physical, criminal background check, drug test and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility.
  • Some of the roles in our community also require that we ask about your vaccination status.

Nice To Haves

  • Special courses or certifications such as National Executive Housekeepers Association Certificate or a technical degree in a field related to industrial housekeeping and laundry are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the performance of all housekeeping personnel through personal                inspections and other quality control techniques.
  • Selects, trains, evaluates and disciplines all housekeeping personnel.
  • Keeps required records, reports, studies.
  • Inspects all housekeeping and laundry equipment regularly for proper functioning               and safety.
  • Coordinates apartment refurbishing with the Plant Services Director.
  • Coordinates department functions with those of other departments.
  • Participates in the research, preparation and writing of the department budget.
  • Operates the Department within budget guidelines.
  • Implements and monitors safety program of the department and all infection               control policies and procedures.
  • Orders necessary supplies, chemicals and equipment.
  • Tests and evaluates new products to improve efficiency.
  • Complies with all federal, state and local codes, laws and regulations governing the               Community and the Community Health Center.
  • Delegates authority to supervisory staff for task details to facilitate the smooth flow               of materials and services.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
