About The Position

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing all human resources functions and for overseeing daily administrative operations for the Seminary. This position ensures efficient office operations, regulatory compliance, and a positive, mission-centered workplace environment. The role requires strong organizational skills, confidentiality, sound judgment, and the ability to support both leadership and staff effectively while upholding the values and mission of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of human resource and/or office management experience required
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, high level of discretion, and strong conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit, church, or educational environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer all human resource functions including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and personnel records management
  • Maintain and update employee handbook and human resources policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain and update the organization's job description handbook to ensure all position descriptions are accurate, current, and properly documented
  • Manage employee benefits administration and open enrollment
  • Manage and oversee all leaves of absence and disability claims in accordance with policy and legal requirements
  • Stay current on employment laws and HR trends through proactive continuing education
  • Oversee Archdiocesan Safe Environment compliance, including background checks and mandatory training for all staff and volunteers
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance to coordinate payroll processing and maintenance of employee time and attendance records
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters and provide guidance and support to supervisors on personnel issues
  • Oversee the performance review process, providing guidance and support to both employees and supervisors
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with legal and organizational standards
  • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs to enhance team skills and career growth
  • Collaborate with the Rector and department supervisors to assess staffing needs and maintain appropriate staffing levels to support the Seminary's operations.
  • Assist the Rector and Director of Finance with personnel budgeting, compensation benchmarking, and organizational culture
  • Ensure records retention compliance and document management
