Director of Inpatient Services
About The Position
The Director of Inpatient Services is responsible for all PSU, ICU, and Emergency Room departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals. The manager is responsible for and aids, provides input and direction for all departmental evaluations, disciplinary actions, and the hiring of staff. The Manager identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the department. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors. The Manager identifies and remedies areas of focus, improvements, and changes through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement and other tools, process design, and information. The Manager works with the Director of Clinical Operations in meeting unit/department goals
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing, BSN required
- Current Texas RN License
- BLS required, must get ACLS and PALS within 5 months of hire date
- Minimum two years’ experience in Medical/Surgical or ICU nursing
- Minimum two years’ experience in management or supervisory position
- Ability to make independent sound clinical nursing and supportive management decisions.
- Capable of effective listening, conflict resolution, and great communicator.
- Demonstrates communication skills appropriate to age.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and plans for special age specific needs of surgical patients and their families
- Ability to utilize Electronic Heath Care Record for patient documentation

Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of operations of PSU, ED, ICU.
- Participates on facility Quality Council.
- Assists with staffing the unit as needed.
- Assigns tasks based on age specific competency of staff.
- Accountable for safety issues regarding patients.
- Liaison between staff and department Director as needed
- Performs all required training, competencies, and meets timely deadlines for self and staff.
