About The Position

Under the direction of the Vice President of Risk Management and Insurance, the Director of Insurance provides enterprise-level leadership, influence, and oversight across the company’s global risk‑transfer strategy. This role ensures that insurance programs, captive structures, and risk‑financing approaches effectively protect a mission‑critical portfolio of data centers and related operations. This position works across regions and functions to shape how the company anticipates, allocates, and transfers risk in a rapidly evolving environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate insurance, risk management, or brokerage, ideally within property‑asset‑intensive or technology‑driven industries.
  • Deep knowledge of global property, casualty, cyber, and construction insurance markets.
  • Experience influencing and overseeing large‑scale insurance programs and captive structures.
  • Strong negotiation skills and established relationships with brokers and carriers.
  • Ability to interpret complex insurance language, regulatory requirements, and contractual risk provisions.
  • Proven leadership experience in global, matrixed organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field; ARM, CPCU, or similar credentials preferred.

  • Experience in data centers, hyperscale cloud, telecommunications, or mission‑critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with real estate or significant responsibility for large property portfolios.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance cost, coverage, and risk tolerance.

Responsibilities

  • Play a central role in developing the company’s global insurance and risk‑financing strategy, ensuring alignment with operational realities, growth plans, and executive risk appetite.
  • Guide and influence the structure of global insurance programs, including property, casualty, cyber, environmental, construction, and management liability.
  • Oversee and manage the placement process for global insurance programs, influencing marketing strategies, negotiations, and terms.
  • Manage the strategy, governance, and performance of the company’s captive insurance entity, including underwriting, capital adequacy, and reinsurance structures.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Security, and Real Estate to evaluate exposures across data centers, supply chains, and construction projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with global brokers and insurers, ensuring full understanding of the company’s risk profile and strategic priorities.
  • Provide oversight of the global claims process and identify trends to inform program design and loss‑prevention initiatives.
  • Advise on insurance and indemnity provisions in customer, vendor, and construction agreements.
  • Participate in due diligence for acquisitions and new market entry, ensuring compliance with local regulations and integration of insurance programs.
  • Oversee the insurance budget, evaluating financial impacts of risk‑transfer decisions to optimize total cost of risk.
  • Ensure adherence to global insurance regulations, captive governance standards, and internal audit requirements.
