About The Position

Destiny Springs Healthcare is seeking an experienced and mission‑driven Director of Intake and Assessment to join our Senior Leadership Team. This critical leadership role oversees the 24/7 intake and assessment operations, ensuring timely access to care, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient and referral experiences. The Director will provide strategic and operational leadership, guide clinical decision‑making, and support hospital‑wide goals while promoting a culture of quality, collaboration, and service excellence. JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for managing and directing the intake and assessment processes at Destiny Springs, which operates 24 hours / 7 days per week. The individual provides prompt responses to patient and referral needs, provides clinical supervision to staff, assures appropriateness of risk assessments, crisis interventions, and referrals for the appropriate level of care. Also, promotes patient care consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Destiny Springs Healthcare. The Director of Intake and Assessment may also be assigned to participate in the Administrator On Call (AOC) rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent operational, clinical, or safety matters, ensuring compliance with Arizona state regulations. Program Planning Monitors and evaluates the intake and admissions services furnished by DSH. Ensures all staff receive the training and supervision necessary to ensure compliance with regulations, appropriate and individualized treatment, and protection of patient health, safety, and welfare. Ensures programs adhere to Specific Standards of Care of patients, according to age. Coordinate the collection of outcome data within timelines. Serves as subject matter expert regarding intakes and assessments. Treatment Ensure strategic program goals and objectives are consistent with overall facility goals and objectives. Develop goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to operational needs of the programs staff and patient care. Promote a positive working and treatment environment that demonstrates regard for all individuals and quality clinical services. Maintain an active involvement and awareness of all patient admissions, discharges, and transfer. Interacts with community agencies related to delivery of clinical services education and recruitment. Ensure the implantation of ongoing system of program orientation for patients, families, professionals, and others. Continuous Quality Improvement Evaluate the achievement of program goals and objectives with appropriate staff on a regular basis. Develop and implement a performance improvement plan, evaluate the results monthly, and report results to the CEO and appropriate team members in a timely manner. Ensures that all deficiencies identified are addressed with appropriate problem-solving actions. Analyze statistical data of the program to determine and respond to trends. Human Resources In coordination with Human Resources, hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Maintain and allocate a well-qualified core of staff resources, manage resource utilization, and justify usage and budget. Ensure sufficient supervision including evaluation processes for all staff members and delegates responsibilities as appropriate. Ensures that the staff schedule and configuration will meet the needs and demands of the patient population and census and adjust it accordingly. Additional Responsibilities Supports public relations activities regarding the services of DHS. Regularly reviews intake and assessment processes and procedures; anticipates changes and implements improvements. Oversees fiscal management of intake and assessments to include budget preparation, management, and administration. Performs all other duties, as assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Services, Psychology or Human Services field. Minimum three (3) years of intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting. Prefer knowledge of hospital admissions, dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management. COMPUTER SKILLS Microsoft windows environment with Office Suite to include formatting and production of word processing documents, spreadsheets, and reports. Ability to use tools for video conferencing, as needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required: Position may require travel within the Metropolitan Area thus, reliable transportation is required. If using a personal vehicle, must have appropriate driver’s license and insurance coverage. Independent licensure at a Master’s level by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT preferred. Level one fingerprint clearance card in the State of Arizona or provide proof of application by hire date. CPR certification within 30 days of employment. CPI certification within 30 days of employment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Skill in understanding the expectations of Joint Commission, CMS, and applicable state licensing requirements. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a clinical setting. This role routinely requires interaction with patients, documentation, and utilization of standard office equipment. Regular attendance is required. Additional hours including weekends may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position. The hospital is a 24/7 hours 365-day operations. At times, individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate. Must have flexible scheduling in order to work hours necessary to fulfill job requirements. This position requires the majority of time being on-site.
