About The Position

The Director of Life Enrichment leads the Life Enrichment team in delivering engaging, meaningful, and purpose-driven programs that enhance residents quality of life. This role is responsible for translating organizational goals into well-executed Life Enrichment programming that supports residents physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being, while fostering connection, creativity, and a strong sense of community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working with a senior population, with demonstrated supervisory or leadership responsibility preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience effectively leading others, including responsibility for staff development, performance management, and coordination of work.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in activity program planning, development, and implementation.
  • Ability to identify, engage, and manage resident program facilitators (e.g., speakers, musicians) and execute applicable contracts.
  • Ability to work in a fast, efficient environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be fluent in the English language and be able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Must be able to perform work independently.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact appropriately with seniors.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, and relevant database management software.
  • Excellent managerial and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously evaluate a comprehensive Life Enrichment program utilizing measurable outcomes to ensure offerings are inclusive, engaging, and aligned with residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial abilities, considering multi-generational needs.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and communication of Life Enrichment programming schedules to ensure residents are informed and programs align with resident interests and preferences.
  • Develop and drive initiatives that increase visibility, engagement, and positive awareness of Assisted Living within the broader community.
  • Manage relationships with cross-functional teams, vendors, and volunteers to support high-quality Life Enrichment programming.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to promote Life Enrichment programs through appropriate communication channels and signage.
  • Partner with other departments and resident committees to develop inclusive, community-wide programs that strengthen connections between Independent Living and Assisted Living residents.
  • Serve as a liaison between Philanthropy and Assisted Living residents to support engagement, communication, and participation in philanthropic initiatives.
  • Develop, manage, and support volunteers to engage alongside residents and ensure volunteer compliance with all state and facility policies and procedures.
  • Lead and manage Life Enrichment staff including hiring, coaching, performance management, training, scheduling, and corrective action as needed, to build a high-performing, collaborative and engaged team.
  • Inspire, motivate, and encourage team members to consistently deliver meaningful, resident-centered engagement experiences
  • Complete resident assessments (e.g. new admission, annual and change of condition) using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Participate in team meetings, community meetings, resident committee meetings, and care conferences as needed.
  • Establish metrics and reports to monitor quality of programs with the designated software and revise and/or eliminate programs to ensure excellent quality and engagement by residents.
  • Support Assisted Living occupancy goals in collaboration with Assisted Living and Sales leadership.
  • Create and manage the Life Enrichment budget to ensure expenditures are within target.
  • Participate in training, in-services, seminars, workshops, and other developmental activities to maintain current knowledge of best practices in Life Enrichment, resident engagement, and leadership.
  • Demonstrate solutions-based leadership by encouraging input and innovation from team members and people closest to the work.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional and community committees.
  • Provide resident group facilitation and one-on-one activities as needed.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of Horizon House leaders.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned by management.
