About the position

The Director of Marketing is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing marketing and promotion of the college and the flow of information within the college and between the college and external stakeholders. The Director of Marketing has the following duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Developing a comprehensive marketing plan that details strategies for marketing and promoting the college goals and objectives.
  • Updating and communicating college information through social media.
  • Providing management for all public information activities.
  • Overseeing website content and design, ensuring that content is updated and compliant with all applicable regulations and educational standards.
  • Fostering meaningful relationships with internal and external partners to effectively support the mission of Robeson Community College.
  • Developing relationships with various media representatives and communicating information and news releases as needed to promote the college and convey relevant information to the public.
  • Interpreting trends and developments in marketing and promoting the college.
  • Developing advertisements as needed, working with companies on design and with companies and media on dissemination.
  • Providing oversight of use of social media for the campus and programs in communication with information technologies office and according to applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Interpreting the purpose, philosophy, and vision of Robeson Community College to the general public.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the college and the Public Information Office.
  • Providing leadership in coordination with the College's senior administrators and the Board of Trustees.
  • Assisting with the review and revision of all official policies of the Robeson Community College.
  • Representing the College professionally and handling all business affairs confidentially.
  • Attending various college events and community events related to college activities and taking notes, photographs, and videography for reporting and communications purposes.
  • Maintaining institutional relationships with the President, executive staff, college employees, members of the Board of Trustees, and Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Providing appropriate liaison support with the NCCCS, Robeson Community College, and other relational entities as assigned.
  • Collaborating with the NCCCS staff on public relations and marketing opportunities.
  • Promoting Robeson Community College on the local, state, regional, and national levels as needed or appropriate.
  • Participating in activities that promote and enhance the college's image among its various publics.
  • Coordinating interviews and representing RCC in radio, TV, podcast, and print media.
  • Writing, distributing, and managing press releases to the local newspaper and other media outlets as appropriate.
  • Participating in the institutional planning process.
  • Assisting in establishing strategic goals and objectives as they relate to marketing and promoting the college.
  • Identifying prospective contacts, alumni, corporate partners, etc. who could support the work of marketing and promoting the college.
  • Supporting departmental marketing across academic programs and student services.
  • Planning and developing marketing strategies to promote the college.
  • Planning, recommending and maintaining a budget for the Public Information Office on an annual basis.
  • Recommending procedures for the implementation of any official policies and regulations of Robeson Community College and the NCCCS related to public information.
  • Organizing, planning, and consulting with internal and external teams/committees, partner institutions and other appropriate entities to determine state-of-the-art practices and procedures related to marketing and promoting the college and facilitating the flow of public information related to the college.
  • Developing procedures for the operation of the Public Information Office.
  • Coordinating the development of assigned sections of a college all official publications and media tools of the community college.
  • Directing the work of staff working for or assigned to the Public Information Office.
  • Directing the development of training schedules, seminars, and/or any other educational activity for personnel affiliated with the RCC Public Information Office.
  • Participating and contributing to innovation and creativity within the college.
  • Maintaining compliance with established performance standards with the North Carolina Community College System, Robeson Community College, and other entities as applicable to the Public Information Office.
  • Developing and implementing a performance and assessment of outcomes for the Public Information Office in cooperation with the President and the office of institutional effectiveness.
  • Implementing the Equipment Management System policies and procedures for the Robeson Community College, the North Carolina Community College System, and other entities as applicable to the Public Information Office.
  • Making sure that the Public Information Office is in compliance with all policies of the College, the State Board of Community Colleges, and any local, state or federal laws.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Governance and Marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, Education, Organizational Leadership, Business Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in marketing, public relations, public administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrate ability to research, organize, and create business, marketing and promotional documents.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills (writing, reading, speaking, listening, non-verbal).
  • Have basic photography skills.
  • Be able to fully utilize current computer technology related to Social Media, Website maintenance, and other public relations related applications.
