About The Position

An expanding telecommunications infrastructure organization is seeking a Director of OSP Engineering to oversee the planning, design, and permitting of fiber network infrastructure. This leader will guide a team responsible for developing scalable network designs that support continued broadband expansion across multiple markets. The role requires a strategic leader who can build effective engineering processes, maintain strong relationships with municipalities and regulatory bodies, and ensure engineering activities support construction timelines and long-term network performance.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in telecommunications, outside plant engineering, or fiber network construction
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and supporting large-scale infrastructure deployments
  • Strong understanding of fiber network architecture and outside plant design principles
  • Experience working with permitting processes and municipal stakeholders
  • Ability to lead multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
  • Experience with engineering and network design platforms such as GIS, CAD, ESRI, Vetro, or similar tools

Responsibilities

  • Lead all outside plant engineering functions including fiber network design, field engineering, drafting, and permitting coordination.
  • Manage and develop an engineering organization consisting of internal staff and third-party design partners.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, complete, and aligned with construction schedules.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of engineering work to support ongoing network build programs.
  • Oversee planning and management of fiber capacity and network routing.
  • Implement processes that maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency across engineering deliverables.
  • Build relationships with municipalities, utilities, and other governing bodies to support permitting and right-of-way approvals.
  • Coordinate closely with construction, operations, and vendor teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor key operational metrics related to engineering output, project readiness, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for engineering staff.
