Following our recent $8M Series A funding, we're expanding nationwide and seeking exceptional talent to join our mission-driven team. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Director of People Operations to support our growing team. This fractional, remote role is designed for a strategic HR partner who can manage core people functions, support leadership, and foster a positive company culture in a fully remote environment supporting both a 1099 and W2 workforce.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in HR/People Operations in a fast-growing startup, with expertise in supporting both a 1099 and W2 workforce.
  • Strong knowledge of performance management, employee relations, and HR compliance.
  • Comfortable working remotely and independently while collaborating closely with leadership.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience fostering culture in remote or hybrid teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage performance review cycles.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and support PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) processes.
  • Manage FMLA and/or parental leave requests and HR-related updates.
  • Support managers with professional development and management guidance.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook as needed.
  • Function as the people policy expert, addressing questions for the team.
  • Ensure HR practices align with company policies and regulations.
  • Oversee benefit elections and support employees through enrollment processes.
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers/providers and manage insurance-related updates.
  • Assist with open enrollment & COBRA and ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
  • Identify and implement culture-building initiatives in a remote work environment.
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide insights to leadership.
  • Work closely with the Junior Chief of Staff to ensure alignment across HR initiatives.
  • Report directly to the Chief of Staff on HR strategy and operational matters.
