About The Position

Bascom Hunter is seeking a Director of Quality Control to lead and scale quality operations across all company locations. This role is responsible for establishing, standardizing, and continuously improving quality systems that support aerospace and defense manufacturing and development activities. The Director will oversee a team of Quality professionals located at production sites and will serve as the central authority for quality compliance, inspection, and continuous improvement initiatives. This leader will partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Leadership to ensure consistent adherence to regulatory requirements and the highest standards of product quality and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in quality within aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing
  • 2+ years of leadership or team management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of: AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
  • Experience with technical drawings, and precision measurement systems
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive process improvement

  • ASQ certification (e.g., CQE) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of Quality staff across production locations
  • Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability measures
  • Foster a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Own and standardize company-wide Quality Control processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Maintain audit readiness and lead internal and external audits
  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities across all sites
  • Ensure proper execution of First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102
  • Drive consistency in inspection methods, documentation, and acceptance criteria
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes
  • Monitor key quality metrics and drive measurable improvements
  • Partner with Engineering on design reviews, drawing interpretation, and change management
  • Work with Manufacturing to address production issues and improve process capability
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain on supplier quality, qualification, and performance
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality requirements and audit processes
  • Support supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing performance monitoring
  • Lead resolution of supplier-related quality issues
  • Ensure accurate and complete quality records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation
  • Provide regular reporting on quality performance, risks, and improvement initiatives to leadership
