About The Position

The Director of Residential Services is a member of the campus leadership team who oversees all service components of the Residential Department. The Director of Residential Services is responsible for the selection, training and supervision of all department staff and the safe and effective operation of programs and ensures that operations comply with all local, state and federal regulations governing such programs. The Director ensures the various services are well coordinated to meet the complex needs of the children in care and programs are managed in a fiscally sound manner. The Director also fully supports and collaborates with the AVP of Programs to ensure that we are providing evidence based, innovative residential programming that drives ANDRUS and the field forward. Regular Schedule-Monday thru Friday with flexibility to work weekends and evenings depending on the needs of the program

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Service Field or related, masters preferred.
  • 5 years minimum of management experience
  • NYS OCFS regulations for residential programs is highly desired
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive understanding and appreciation for regulatory compliance
  • Experience working with children in a residential setting highly desired
  • Strong computer skills, with knowledge of electronic health record systems and a variety of software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, ADP, Relias, etc.)
  • Personal commitment to ethical practice and ability to adhere to Commitments of Sanctuary Model.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs

Responsibilities

  • Maintain open availability and responsiveness by phone or in person to support campus needs.
  • Active presence and accessibility across all programs supporting 24/7 operational needs.
  • Work closely with the AVP of Programs as well as other program leadership to ensure appropriate day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure compliance with NYS regulations, optimizing service delivery within these frameworks and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Provide leadership and role-modeling to all staff on providing good customer service to residents, their families, staff, visitors and volunteers.
  • Participate actively in all aspects of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of direct reports and other staff as needed
  • Implement continuous quality improvement processes in collaboration with CQI to ensure program effectiveness and client satisfaction; Identify and address program challenges and barriers
  • Consistently monitor performance of all staff, providing feedback, instruction, support, modeling, and addressing performance issues promptly.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to program leaders to build their supervisory and managerial leadership skills to engage, encourage, empower, and motivate program staff; develop succession planning strategy.
  • Trained in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention techniques, and culturally responsive practices
  • Promote interdepartmental collaboration across programs on campus to support the needs of the children, adults, families and staff
  • Assist in creating and monitoring the budget to ensure the best use of resources to meet all programmatic needs and maximize service impact across residential programs.
