Job Description: As the Director of Operations for Commercial Tax, you will be the end-to-end owner of our commercial tax servicing division. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the precision, delivery, and scaling of tax production for our growing list of commercial clients. You will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and daily execution, ensuring that our commercial tax lifecycle—from data ingestion to final reporting—is seamless, compliant, and best-in-class.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in Real Estate Tax Servicing or complex Operations.
  • 7+ years in Commercial or Residential Tax processing or related field.
  • 7+ years of direct leadership experience, specifically managing leaders and distributed/offshore teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel and Access; a proven ability to master proprietary database systems and navigate complex tax software.
  • Analytical Mindset: You are deeply metrics-driven and use data to tell a story, solve problems, and forecast future operational needs.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with C-suite stakeholders and external partners.
  • Change Management: Proven track record of leading teams through organizational shifts, technology migrations, or rapid scaling.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of budgetary management, P&L impact, and financial forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Ownership: Direct all aspects of commercial tax production, quality control, and delivery, ensuring 100% accuracy in high-volume, deadline-driven environments.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead a culture of continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks in the commercial tax workflow and implementing automation or process refinements to enhance throughput.
  • Strategic Client Management: Serve as a senior point of escalation and a trusted advisor for commercial clients, ensuring our servicing model aligns with their unique portfolio needs.
  • Leadership & Culture: Manage, mentor, and empower a diverse team of tax professionals and offshore resources. Foster a culture of accountability where team members are encouraged to make independent, data-backed decisions.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to track operational health and ensure "client-first" delivery.
  • Financial Stewardship: Manage the division’s budget, providing accurate volume forecasting and resource planning to ensure profitability and operational readiness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, IT, and Compliance teams to integrate new tax laws, proprietary software updates, and client-specific requirements into the production engine.
