About the position

Thermo Fisher aims to accelerate customers’ Lab-of-the-Future journeys by unifying our instrument, reagent, and software portfolio into a connected Digital Lab Operating System. As Director, Product Management, you will own product-market fit, vision, and commercial success for this platform. Partnering with R&D, commercial, and service teams worldwide, you will turn fragmented capabilities into a single, differentiated solution that creates a unique customer experience through compelling laboratory software.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain a 3-year product vision and investment thesis for the Digital Lab of the Future, grounded in Thermo Fisher’s mission and 4i Values.
  • Prioritize where to build, buy, or partner to close capability gaps and maximize ROI.
  • Segment the global lab-software market and validate product-market fit through direct customer discovery across regions.
  • Translate insights into business-case-backed epics that tie software adoption to increased scientific activity.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle for a portfolio of modules and APIs—from concept to retirement.
  • Set and track OKRs (ARR, NPS, attach rate to hardware, cost-to-serve).
  • Drive a unified roadmap across multiple product managers, engineering teams, UX, commercial, and support teams.
  • Facilitate architecture and standards alignment so modules integrate 'out of the box.'
  • Partner with Marketing & Sales Enablement to craft value propositions and pricing/bundling strategies.
  • Support Design Consulting and Customer Success teams to execute change-management programs at customer sites.
  • Deliver crisp, data-driven updates on progress, risks, and investment needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related field preferred; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in digital product management, including 3–5 years leading platform/ecosystem products in biopharma or adjacent scientific markets.
  • Proven track record of commercializing SaaS or hybrid software that drives pull-through of capital equipment or consumables.
  • Demonstrated success managing global roadmaps and virtual teams > 50 people, including external partners.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen—able to size markets, model business cases, and manage P&Ls.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud architectures, micro-services, and laboratory informatics (LIMS, ELN, CDS, IoT).
  • Excellent storytelling and influencing skills with both technical audiences and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Comfortable traveling internationally up to 25%.

Benefits

  • A choice of national medical and dental plans, and a national vision plan, including health incentive programs.
  • Employee assistance and family support programs, including commuter benefits and tuition reimbursement.
  • At least 120 hours paid time off (PTO), 10 paid holidays annually, paid parental leave (3 weeks for bonding and 8 weeks for caregiver leave).
  • Accident and life insurance, and short- and long-term disability in accordance with company policy.
  • Retirement and savings programs, such as our competitive 401(k) U.S. retirement savings plan.
  • Employees’ Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) offers eligible colleagues the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount.
