Job Overview The Director, Production Control maximizes overall facility efficiency by providing labor planning, wave coordination, UPC slotting, and ongoing feedback to operations. This role utilizes hourly, shift, and daily planning forecasts against actual results to align labor movement, work pace, and capacity, in addition to performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Labor Planning and Forecasting: Ability to manage daily labor forecasts, allocate labor hours based on work content, and adjust rates according to trends and operational forecasts
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitor and provide frequent updates on actual performance rates versus plan rates to senior leadership, recapping execution versus plan daily
  • Communication Skills: Practice open and continuous communication, valuing keeping others informed and effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at various organizational levels
  • Creative and Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to solve problems and improve processes
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office is required
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 5-7 years of prior experience.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily labor forecasts for all functional areas, allocate labor hours based on work content, and adjust rates according to trends and the Rolling Operational Forecast.
  • Drive labor and wave modifications throughout the shift based on changes in work mix, available labor, equipment constraints, or integration variances.
  • Continuously monitor and provide frequent updates to the AVP, Facility Leader, Operations Directors, and Shift Directors regarding actual performance rates versus plan rates, recapping execution versus plan daily.
  • Direct and communicate changes in wave strategy to operations based on workload.
  • Lead production managers and wave analysts to maintain wave cadence and FIFO processing of customer orders, including: Restock, replenishment, and pick rules adherence Induction completion, jackpot percentage, and rate Beumer chute velocity, recirculation rate, and footprint management Wave strategy changes and size UPP Combinability
  • Manage the initial slotting of new items entering the fulfillment center.
  • Develop and appraise colleagues effectively.
  • Inspire the team by demonstrating a mastery of building relationships that positively impact associate engagement.
