About The Position

Manage vendor contracts and supply agreements, including analyzing pricing updates and daily price change reports to identify discrepancies, cost impacts, and upcoming price increases, ensuring accurate financial management and informed purchasing decisions. Review wholesaler supply issue notifications and assess potential operational impacts to proactively prevent disruptions to pharmacy services. Prepare weekly summaries for management highlighting market changes, pricing shifts, and supply on hand status to support strategic planning and timely decision making. Identify and recommend alternatives for products in shortage, including critical controlled substances, to maintain continuity of care and ensure uninterrupted patient support. Adjust Min/Max levels based on usage trends, supply risks, and inventory performance to optimize stock levels and prevent shortages or overstock situations. Place purchase orders and take proactive action to secure stable pricing and supply continuity, reducing financial exposure and ensuring availability of essential items. Support purchasing and inventory workflows by coordinating with automation and reporting systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and process reliability. Provide usage and compliance related inventory reports to vendors, especially for controlled substances, to meet regulatory expectations and maintain transparent procurement practices. Monitor distributor and wholesaler pricing daily to ensure accurate cost management and prevent reliance on incorrect or inflated web listed prices. Maintain controlled substance (CII) inventory records in full DEA compliance and oversee required physical and cycle count audits to ensure accuracy, safeguard high risk items, and uphold organizational standards. Provide leadership and oversight for purchasing, receiving, and stocking staff to ensure a skilled, compliant, and high performing team that operates efficiently and meets organizational standards. Marginal or Additional Functions 1. Additional duties as assigned or apparent Supervisory and Managerial Responsibility Includes direct managerial and leadership responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 10 years of pharmaceutical purchasing experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years managerial experience
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills a must
  • Strong understanding of FDA & DEA regulations
  • Ability to collect and analyze data from multiple sources to assist in the decision-making process at the managerial level
  • Understands the financial tracking and reporting of inventory assets
  • High-energy individual with a sense of urgency and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with co-workers and suppliers in a timely manner
