About The Position

The Director, Research and Content will lead the development and execution of Hut 8’s thought leadership and owned-content program. This role sits at the intersection of energy, digital infrastructure, capital markets, and communications and is responsible for translating complex, often technical topics into clear, institutional-grade research and narrative assets. You will be responsible for building a scalable content engine that compounds Hut 8’s brand positioning and credibility over time, including the company’s flagship annual thought leadership publication, long-form and short-form written content for the Insights platform, and executive-ready narrative support tied to priority company moments. This is a high-ownership role requiring strong judgment, sharp writing, and the ability to synthesize across technical, financial, and strategic inputs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in research, content, strategy, investor communications, journalism, management consulting, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to produce institutional-grade writing: clear, structured, analytical, and credible with sophisticated audiences
  • Strong research and synthesis capability across complex domains (energy, infrastructure, data centers/AI, markets, capital allocation)
  • High judgment and editorial rigor; comfortable owning topics end-to-end and operating with minimal oversight
  • Ability to work effectively with senior executives and cross-functional subject matter experts
  • Strong project management instincts: can run multiple workstreams, timelines, and review cycles without losing quality
  • Comfort with ambiguity, fast-changing priorities, and high standards
  • Strong attention to detail and a bias toward accuracy, clarity, and finish
  • Experience supporting executive voice (speeches, narrative memos, op-eds, social content)

Responsibilities

  • Own Hut 8’s research and content calendar across the company’s thought leadership program
  • Lead development of Hut 8’s flagship annual thought leadership asset (concept, outline, research direction, drafting, iteration, and launch support)
  • Produce and publish long-form content (e.g., case studies, white papers, frameworks) that makes Hut 8’s strategy tangible and credible
  • Produce and publish short-form monthly insights (approximately 750–1,000 words) that reinforce positioning between earnings cycles and major moments
  • Conduct and direct research across energy, digital infrastructure, compute, and capital allocation themes
  • Translate complex technical and financial inputs into clear, investor-grade narratives and explainers
  • Build internal “source of truth” research briefs and backgrounders to support consistent external messaging
  • Coordinate and execute research activities across internal teams (energy, finance, corporate development, technical teams, IR) to ensure accuracy and strategic alignment
  • Manage external research and content partners as needed for flagship workstreams (briefing, direction, review cycles, delivery)
  • Maintain high editorial standards and brand consistency in partnership with design and communications counterparts
  • Own drafting, editing, fact-checking, and version control for published content
  • Establish efficient workflows to move from conceptualization to publication, with senior-level polish and minimal friction
  • Track performance signals and qualitative feedback to refine topics, formats, and cadence over time
