We are seeking a strategic, experienced Safety Director to lead Cimarron’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs across all operational areas. The Safety Director partners with Cimarron’s leadership, operational teams, customers, and external stakeholders to implement effective governance, reduce risk, and promote continuous improvement. You’ll serve as the company’s subject-matter expert on all health, safety, and environmental matters, working closely with leadership and operational teams to ensure our people and processes are protected - while aligning with Cimarron’s broader sustainability and ESG goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Emergency Management, or related field.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, ideally in oil & gas or industrial services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or equivalent
  • Experience with PEC Safeland, H2S, First Aid/CPR, and other safety training programs
  • Familiarity with EHS software platforms and compliance management systems (KPA, IS Networld, etc.)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Governance Lead the organization’s safety, environmental, and emergency management strategy while ensuring alignment with all regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and oversee governance frameworks, policies, and performance standards that drive consistent safety practices across all operations.
  • Advise leadership on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and strategic initiatives, using data and performance metrics to inform decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional groups to strengthen accountability and advance a strong, organization-wide safety culture.
  • Health & Safety Management Oversee development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive health and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor workplace conditions through audits and hazard controls to prevent injuries and illnesses.
  • Environmental Management & Sustainability Manage environmental compliance programs related to air, water, waste, and chemicals.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and support sustainability initiatives that reduce environmental impact.
  • Lead environmental audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partner with operations to integrate sustainable practices into daily activities and long-term planning.
  • Critical Systems & Emergency Management Manage critical safety systems - including connected worker technologies - ensuring proper configuration, monitoring, and response readiness, while leveraging emerging tools to enhance safety performance and training.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve emergency action plans, business continuity procedures, and crisis communication protocols.
  • Lead organizational emergency preparedness efforts, including drills, training, coordination with local responders, and post incident reviews to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Analyze system and event data to identify vulnerabilities, implement mitigation strategies, and strengthen overall emergency response capabilities.
  • Insurance Case Management Manage workers’ compensation, property, and auto claims from reporting through resolution.
  • Serve as primary liaison with carriers, TPAs, legal counsel, and adjusters.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, timely investigations, and effective claim management.
  • Analyze claim trends to address root causes and strengthen prevention efforts.
  • Oversee return-to-work programs in partnership with HR and Supervisors.
  • Customer Interface & Representation Represent the organization in customer safety meetings, audits, and site visits.
  • Support business development by demonstrating safety excellence and program maturity.
  • Communicate safety performance, strengths, and improvement plans to customers and partners.
  • Collaborate to align expectations, resolve issues, and build long-term relationships.
  • Culture, Training & Communications Promote a proactive, employee engaged safety culture.
  • Develop and deliver training that enhances awareness, capability, and engagement.
  • Create clear communication strategies to share expectations, updates, and performance insights.
  • Promote recognition programs that reinforce safe behaviors and continuous improvement.
  • Equip leaders to model, communicate, and uphold safety values.
