Director, Supply Chain

FluidstackAustin, TX
1d$200,000 - $300,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is building one of the world's largest AI compute platforms, which means our supply chain is a critical competitive lever — not a back-office function. As a Director of Supply Chain, you will own the full end-to-end supply chain operation across two major categories: data center MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) and IT infrastructure (compute, storage, and networking), as well as our global logistics program. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will directly manage commodity and sourcing managers, procurement coordinators, and on-site logistics coordinators, and you will be in the work: negotiating deals, managing supplier escalations, driving logistics performance, and keeping execution tight across a fast-moving portfolio.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with at least 5 years managing teams in technology hardware, data center, or hyperscale infrastructure environments
  • Demonstrated track record owning both procurement/sourcing and logistics functions simultaneously at material scale
  • Direct experience sourcing and contracting for IT infrastructure hardware (servers, GPUs, networking) and/or data center MEP equipment
  • Experience managing global logistics programs including freight, customs/trade compliance, and on-site or embedded logistics coordination
  • Strong people manager with experience building and developing high-performing supply chain teams across multiple functions
  • Proficiency in supply chain systems and tools (ERP, procurement platforms, WMS, inventory management) and strong quantitative/analytical skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a hyperscaler, neocloud, leading AI infrastructure company, or a major IT OEM/ODM in a VP or equivalent supply chain leadership role
  • Deep established relationships across the AI infrastructure supply chain: GPU and compute OEMs, server ODMs, networking, and MEP prime and specialty subcontractors
  • Experience with NPI supply chain processes and GPU/accelerator procurement at allocation-constrained scale
  • Deep understanding of next-generation datacenter technologies, including 800VDC and SSTs, two-phase liquid cooling, etc.
  • MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
  • APICS CSCP, CPSM, or equivalent executive-level supply chain certification

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end supply chain execution across MEP and IT infrastructure categories, driving cost, quality, lead time, and availability performance against targets
  • Lead, develop, and scale a team of commodity managers, sourcing managers, procurement coordinators, and logistics coordinators across multiple sites and time zones
  • Drive sourcing and contracting strategy for hardware OEMs, component suppliers, and MEP vendors (generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling, electrical)
  • Manage contractor and contingent workforce supply chains, including master services agreements, rate cards, and performance management with staffing partners
  • Build and enforce procurement policy, purchase order discipline, and spend governance frameworks that scale with Fluidstack's growth trajectory
  • Oversee inventory strategy including safety stock, VMI programs, distribution hub positioning, and asset lifecycle tracking to minimize stranded capital
  • Establish and track supply chain KPIs (on-time delivery, lead time, cost savings, supplier fill rate) and report performance to senior leadership regularly
  • Partner closely with Data Center Construction, Infrastructure Engineering, Finance, and Legal to align supply chain timelines with facility development and program milestones
  • Negotiate multi-year supply agreements, framework contracts, and spot purchase terms with tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers; own executive-level supplier relationships at the operational level
  • Identify and mitigate supply risk, including single-source dependencies, geopolitical exposure, long-lead items, and allocation constraints for critical components

Benefits

  • competitive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • retirement or pension plan in line with local norms
  • generous PTO policy in line with local norms
  • equity in the form of stock options
