About The Position

Tomorrow.io is a leading weather intelligence and climate resilience platform helping organizations and governments make better decisions in a world of increasing weather volatility. By combining proprietary satellite technology, advanced AI forecasting models, and actionable analytics, Tomorrow.io delivers hyper‑local weather insights that protect lives, strengthen operations, and build climate resilience globally. Our space program is core to this mission. We are building and operating a weather observation constellation powered by internally developed software‑defined radars — transforming how atmospheric data is captured and used worldwide. We’re looking for a Director of Systems Engineering. The Director of Systems Engineering will lead the technical strategy and system architecture for Tomorrow.io’s space and sensing products, including satellite constellations, radar systems, and integrated weather observation platforms. You will champion cross‑discipline technical excellence and ensure system designs align with mission objectives, operational goals, and customer needs. You will guide a team of systems engineers while collaborating with hardware, software, product, and mission operations teams to deliver highly reliable and scalable atmospheric sensing systems. Our team is collaborative, driven by purpose, and focused on delivering high‑impact results. We value open communication, mutual accountability, and problem‑solving together across disciplines. As a small, high‑performing group, we support innovation and empower individuals to make meaningful contributions. The mission of the Director of Systems Engineering is to define and lead the systems engineering vision for Tomorrow.io’s space and sensor portfolio. You will establish and champion systems practices that ensure architectural integrity, traceability, risk management, and alignment across software, hardware, and mission domains. Your work will enable cross‑functional teams to execute on complex system designs and deliver robust, mission‑ready solutions that advance Tomorrow.io’s weather sensing leadership. As Director of Systems Engineering, you will establish scalable engineering processes, set systems standards, and elevate the quality of designs across the product lifecycle — from concept and requirements through verification and validation. You will collaborate with program leadership to manage technical performance, system‑level trade studies, and interface control. Expected outcomes include system architectures that meet technical and operational targets, early identification and mitigation of risk, and cross‑discipline alignment that accelerates delivery and improves mission success
