About The Position

Under general direction, the Director, Tax Specialist performs and reviews highly complex federal corporate tax provisions, filings and research functions. The Director is responsible for highly complex assignments with a large level of exposure. This position will lead and manage workflow for small teams in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Six years of relevant corporate tax experience or four years of public accounting tax experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • An advanced degree in taxation and/or a CPA designation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and relevant tax software.
  • Experience using Corptax compliance software, a plus.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex tax issues orally and in writing to various levels of management, as well as outside parties such as government tax auditors.
  • Experience with SSAP 101 (Statutory Tax Accounting), a plus.
  • Experience leading and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously and follow through to ensure timely completion.
  • Ability to think strategically and use judgement to resolve issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing highly complex and high level federal tax compliance and/or tax research assignments.
  • Review federal tax filings and related support documentation.
  • Research and document tax issues and ensure that the proper filing positions are taken.
  • Contribute to analysis of tax provisions, business changes and corporate restructuring. This includes making recommendations and performing highly complex research and related assignments.
  • Assist with and/or manage tax audits, as needed.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies.
  • Utilize appropriate tools to obtain data necessary to support tax calculations, tax payments and related journal entries.
  • Responsibilities may include extracting and analyzing data from internal systems, Statutory Annual Statement, and other financial documents.
  • Lead projects that analyze and implement tax saving and tax planning strategies.
  • Assist on tax audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
