About The Position

Oracle's Industries provide powerful solutions to help solve the most complex business problems across a variety of industries including communications, construction and engineering, food and beverage, financial services and insurance, government, health sciences, hospitality, public sector, and retail. Whether powering clinical development for pharmaceutical companies, helping hotel chains streamline operations, or enabling retail stores anticipate demand and drive engagement, we’re working hard to provide solutions that help industry leaders grow, adapt, and innovate. At Oracle, we’re committed to creating a state-of-the-art consumer-grade end user experience that will be the factor that distinguishes our software from the competition. Yes. We’re absolutely serious. And we can’t do it without your help. We need a thoughtful, talented, multi-faceted user experience leader who will lead our Communications UX team to design compelling experiences that help governments in developing countries deliver seamless experiences and streamline services for citizens, businesses, and communities. Here’s the kind of person we’re looking for. You’re a full stack user experience leader. You’ve guided teams using user-centered design methods to interaction design, visual design and aesthetics, typography, motion, human factors, and more as tools in the UX designer’s toolkit. You may have strengths in many of these areas, know how they work together, can still design hands on; but you know how to direct the work and combine it all into an experience that delights. You have mastery of driving a user-centered product design process. This includes leading projects and teams as a creative leader across all phases of the product design process, from project definition, to user research, to strategy formulation, opportunity area identification, ideation, prototyping, testing, into final visual design, production, and delivery. You have a track record of designing, building, and shipping Consumer or Enterprise digital software products. You relentlessly build consensus and influence teams to do what it takes to deliver compelling user experiences. You don’t already know everything, and you love to learn. You’re hungry to learn about business, technology, and design and how they all work together to deliver breakthrough products. You’re confident in your abilities and judgement, but know you need to prove your designs work. You consume large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data to constantly refine your assumptions. You iterate. You love finding out you’re wrong and refining your designs until they’re right. You love technology and inventing new ways tech can enable breakthrough user experiences that transform what a product can be. You get stuff done. You do quality work, reliably, exceeding expectations, and deliver on time (at least most of the time). You’re a fantastic storyteller. You love inspiring teams, business leaders, and customers by clearly articulating and proving the impact design can have on people’s lives and the success of the business. You know that our products tell our customers a story through the user experience. You won’t rest until that story is a compelling one. You love rules and you know when to break them. You think systemically because you know that creating a coherent experience requires it. But you know when the system needs to expand to accommodate a user’s varied conceptual model. And you know when to do something completely unique to create an arresting and product-defining moment in the product that makes users ooh and aah. If you have experience working within the public sector, all the better. While not a requirement, a little experience under your belt will go a long way. If you’ve ever helped implement user-centered practices to effect positive changes in governments and communities anywhere in the world…that’s experience you’ll put to good use designing next generation solutions for our Communications customers. And finally, you want to be part of creating dramatic and impactful change at a company that is committed to becoming a light unto others when it comes to user experience design. You might have learned your craft via formal training or via on-the-job training. For most candidates, it’s a combination of both. As long as you’ve got experience and passion for leading and doing this work at the highest level, we’d love to talk to you and see a portfolio of the work you’re most proud of. Only Oracle brings together the data, infrastructure, applications, and expertise to power everything from industry innovations to life-saving care. And with AI embedded across our products and services, we help customers turn that promise into a better future for all.
