About The Position

The Director Women’s Health Care (WHC) Research Medical Affairs serves as the WHC Research Strategy Lead for the entire WHC portfolio and is responsible for the creation & execution of the strategic & tactical goals for the portfolio with regards to market access, therapeutic area, disease state, integrated delivery, health economics and outcomes, and real-world evidence research. The incumbent develops and regularly updates Data Generation and Observational Studies (DGOS) research plans for the product/s or therapeutic area/s. The incumbent also creates and oversees the execution of tactical projects over the course of the year. The incumbent develops annual research strategy/plan for the specific product/s or therapeutic area/s in collaboration with US and Global Medical Affairs, Market Access, Global IEG, and Commercial Business Units.

Requirements

  • PharmD, MS, PhD or other equivalent degree in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, economics, or related healthcare field
  • Good written and oral presentation skills and a self- starter with the ability to maintain high productivity
  • Experience in or closely working with the pharma industry
  • Experience working in health economics and outcomes research and/or real world evidence or related field of research
  • Have ability, with minimum supervision, to design and implement research plan and programs in alignment with commercial strategy
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 10-25% of the time
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities to ensure alignment within for research projects to meet objectives and deadlines
  • Ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams with members from US and/or global function areas
  • Ability to select and implement scientifically valid study design and methods, and interpret, explain, report, and effectively communicate the results of these studies
  • Utilize a high level of communication skills
  • Ability to represent the company at regulatory meetings including the FDA or health technology assessment (HTA) agency meetings including ICER.
  • Be accountable for the initiation, development, supervision, accuracy, appropriateness, and timely completion of all studies
  • Ability to serve as the primary contact for Research external strategy research collaborations with academic centers, payers and/or integrated delivery networks (IDNs).

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years’ experience in or closely working with the pharma industry
  • At least four years’ experience in health economics and outcomes research and/or real-world evidence or related field of research.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Data Generation and Observational Studies (DGOS) in all relevant US commercial and medical as well as the Global teams
  • As project leader, with minimum supervisory support, coordinates the activities and functions in company-wide project team/s
  • Establishes project priorities to meet all deadlines and identifies and helps his/her supervisor resolve conflicts with other projects
  • Serves as principal contact to commercial, medical and policy teams with respect to all issues of health economics and outcomes study design, execution, analysis, reporting, and interpretation
  • Is responsible and accountable for annual research plan, budget management, study execution and management, protocol approval, data accuracy, and dissemination of study results
  • Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the publication, communication, and use of results of all research projects
  • Consults with experts and investigators to ensure that state-of-the art methods are introduced and employed within the DGOS department
  • Serves as the primacy contact/researcher and manages DGOS external strategic research collaboration projects
  • Closely monitors external policy environment and health technology assessment (HTA) requirements, e.g., the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER), to support Bayer research programs and value communication strategy
  • Incumbent must apply analytic and theoretic expertise to solve unique real-life problems of health economic and outcomes studies
  • Incumbent must have solid understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and be able to apply the knowledge in supporting DGOS research plan and commercial strategy
  • Legal and Regulatory: ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines and regulations
  • Coordinate the cross-functional launch plans for WHC
  • Oversee cross-functional teams required to achieve key research initiatives. Define and clarify initiatives, set objectives and manages the team, timelines and resources needed
  • Support development of the US WHC research
  • Support development of research strategy to address HCP, payor, and IDN segments (Primary Care and Specialty Care).
