Overview of Job Function:
The Product Development Director (located within the US) is responsible for managing all product life cycle activities that are connected with new product releases and current product enhancements, across the product portfolio in keeping with the product roadmap. The Product Development Director is responsible for the overall delivery schedule, and leads efforts by project managers from Innovation, product management, development, operations, and client services from the early stages of release definition, through production deployment and customer rollout. The Product Development Director is also responsible for defining and maintaining product life cycle processes, and product governance processes, and setting the agenda for and managing outcomes from the product roadmap process.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the end to end product life cycle for new product offerings, from concept phase through customer rollout, managing the activities of all departments and managing scope, schedule, and priorities throughout the development cycle
- Concept Phase â Ensure that market requirements, concept level product definition, and market objectives are well defined, and appropriate business cases are developed.
- Definition Phase â Oversee development of a master release schedule that includes activities, resources, and deliverables needed to bring the release to market; insure convergence on release scope.
- Development Phase â Manage activities across all departments of the product offering across all affected components of the product offering, including core development activities led by development project leads, and parallel development of delivery procedures, NPI activities, etc.
- Production Deployment â With support from project leads, manage all implementation activities required to deploy new product capabilities into the production environment, including product documentation and training, and working with the Marketing organization to create product collateral.
- Customer Beta Activities â With support from the program team leads, develop beta objectives and customer selection criteria, acquire commitments form beta customers, and execute beta activities.
- Customer Rollout â Oversee rollout of capabilities to existing installed base if applicable, and completion of NPI related activities with sales for new customers.
- For all components of the current product offering at any given time, oversee maintenance activities specifically pertaining to enhancements of the product offering, and insure that defects and new customer specific implementation requirements are prioritized relative to new product development efforts.
- Create and maintain a defined product life cycle process for managing the existing product offering, developing new capabilities in the product offering, and developing new products. The product life cycle process includes definition of all deliverables, activities, process steps, and exit criteria per PLC phase.
- Create and maintain a governance process for executive oversight of the product roadmap, and product releases.
- Create, refine, and manage the change management process for all changes that affect the product offering.
- Manage creation and tracking of budgets for new product development activities, in keeping with business case development needs, and to provide appropriate cost information to support pricing activity and profitability analysis.

Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 years overall experience in a technical support capacity for enterprise solutions;
- 8-12 years experience working in project and program management roles of increasing levels of responsibility in projects that involve design, development, and deployment of software and/or communications software
- 8 years of progressive leadership experience in a technical support environment, including 2+ years leading the support operations or support delivery function of a highly technical enterprise software support organization
- Experience with building and/or managing offshore teams
- Experience writing business cases, RFPs and completing vendor solution analysis and selection
- Proven negotiation skills at the executive level
- Proven decision making skills that demonstrate the ability to access and understand the broad impact of decisions made
- Proven leadership skills, technical skills and customer facing skills
- Demonstrated success and performance assessment /team building experience
- Basic Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Project management/software implementation knowledge
- Excellent communication skills- both written and verbal
- Strong presentation skills
- Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and guide customers dealing with critical business situations
- Proven problem solving and time management skills
- Ability to travel up to 30% (both domestic and international)

- Successful completion of a background check screening process including, but not limited to employment verification, criminal search, OFAC and SS verification
Preferred Requirements:
- Knowledge of Oracle, Salesforce.com Service Cloud or other 3rd party incident management solution
- Experience selecting, designing and implementing 3rd party knowledge base, ACD, IVR and portal solutions
- Knowledge of Telephony systems, and MS technologies including MS OS, MS SQL, MS tools
- Management competency in enterprise software and the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley, ITIL, SCP and/or ISO 9001:2000 policies and procedures
- Call center operations: data analysis, KPIs, trends, Stochastic and Heuristic modeling, Erland/Poisson/exponential probability, CTI/ACD/IVR, RFP/RFQ, design specification, contract/SLA negotiation and management, agent tools and interfaces, systems analysis, project management, and outsource management
