About The Position

Pizzeria Vetri is a vibrant and authentic neighborhood pizzeria known for its hand-crafted Neapolitan-style pizzas, warm hospitality, and commitment to quality. The Dishwasher is an essential member of the culinary team, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen tools, equipment, dishes, utensils, and work areas. This role directly supports the entire back-of-house and front-of-house teams by ensuring a steady supply of clean kitchenware and assisting with various kitchen maintenance tasks. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail are key to success in this position.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a restaurant or food service setting preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and maintain a sense of urgency.
  • Open to receiving feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals.
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Shifts typically range from 4 to 8 hours depending on business needs.
  • May be asked to assist or fill in for other back-of-house positions if cross-trained and needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area, including floors, walls, drains, and shelving.
  • Ensure all kitchenware and dishware are thoroughly cleaned, dried, and stored properly.
  • Monitor dish machine temperature and chemicals to ensure safe and effective sanitation.
  • Take out kitchen trash, recyclables, and compost regularly, ensuring proper disposal and cleanliness of waste areas.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and appliances as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled, including walk-in coolers, ovens, hoods, and drains.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support kitchen prep work or basic food prep tasks as needed and as directed.
  • Restock dish area and kitchen with necessary supplies at the start and end of each shift.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to support service flow and resolve issues quickly.
