Requirements

  • Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
  • Responses to qualifying questions should be verifiable by skills and/or experience stated on the profile application/resume. Information should be provided regarding any gaps in employment.
  • Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (ET) Monday through Friday.
  • Valid US Driver’s License – up to 25% travel is required.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to be on-call to perform assigned duties during an off-duty period.
  • May require work time outside of regular scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Work at the FWC is cross-functional, meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The Commission expects employees to function across FWC's organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.
  • Three years of experience in technical support, customer service, or an IT‑related environment; or
  • An Associate’s degree in an Information Technology Operations–related field and one year of customer service experience can substitute for the required experience.
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills, including the ability to explain technical information in non‑technical terms
  • Operating Systems: Familiarity with Windows operating systems (both server and desktop) and a basic understanding of Linux or macOS environments.
  • Provide support for enterprise printing services, including assisting users with printer connectivity, print queue issues, and basic troubleshooting of networked printers and multifunction devices.
  • Assist in maintaining enterprise print infrastructure by monitoring printer status, reporting outages, and coordinating service requests with vendors when needed. Help manage printer configurations, including user access, driver deployment, and ensuring devices meet agency security and performance requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance for video teleconferencing (VTC) systems, ensuring that meeting rooms, equipment, and conferencing platforms operate smoothly. Support users in setting up VTC sessions, including audio/video checks, device connectivity, and basic troubleshooting during meetings. Assist in maintaining VTC equipment by performing routine checks, updating firmware/software, and documenting room or equipment issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors or internal teams for maintenance, upgrades, and issue resolution related to VTC hardware or conferencing services.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Understanding basic networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, and DHCP, and the ability to set up and troubleshoot simple network connections.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and efficient technical support to users, ensuring that interactions are positive and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Assist in resolving basic user issues related to system access, software usage, and hardware functionality.
  • Communicate with users to understand their needs and provide explanations for any technical actions taken.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, workstations, and peripheral devices.
  • Perform routine system monitoring and maintenance tasks, including updates, backups, and performance checks.
  • Help manage user accounts, including creating, modifying, and disabling accounts as needed.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Document network configurations and maintain records of changes.
  • Follow established security protocols to protect systems from unauthorized access or breaches.
  • Assist in applying security patches and updates to ensure systems are up to date.
  • Help enforce compliance with industry standards and company policies regarding IT security.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for systems, including configuration settings, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist in developing and documenting IT processes and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Conduct basic research on new technologies and tools that could improve system performance or efficiency.
  • Participate in training sessions and stay current with emerging trends in systems administration.
  • Assist in coordinating with vendors for hardware, software, and service acquisitions.
  • Help manage vendor relationships by following up on support requests and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for mobile devices, including configuration, troubleshooting, and ensuring they meet the organization’s standards.
  • Assist users with mobile device management as required.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and departments to provide support where needed.
  • Participate in team projects and contribute to achieving overall IT goals.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as directed by senior systems administrators or IT management.
