First Shift – Distribution Center Associate

About The Position

Job Description: Duties focused on the receiving and put away of inbound product primarily; along with the picking, checking, and loading of product orders for the Distribution Center’s internal and external customers. Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm Essential Functions include, but not limited to the following: Receiving/Put away, Picking/Staging, Checking/Quality Control, and/or Loading orders: Unloading inbound product trucks, checking in compared with paperwork and RF scanner, and sorting accordingly (noting variances) before physically putting away items into proper bin locations Read orders and use scanner to be directed to items to be picked and loaded for customer Assemble customer orders from stock while operating order pickers and/or forklifts to place orders on pallets to be loaded on delivery trucks,sometimes manually counting the amounts needed Closely monitor the items’ unit of measure details while handling them before loading Load product on trucks as required in predetermined order using pallet jacks and forklifts Maintain that paperwork correctly remains with each order and final delivery labels are applied accurately Ensure product is not damaged and is loaded in a manner that allows for ease in sorting and selecting upon delivery, while also securing with shrink-wrap and ratchet straps as needed. Operating an RF scanner for item barcodes for all orders being picked and checked Safely operating material handling equipment such as: order pickers, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand carts, etc. that includes plugging and unplugging them to maintain charge as needed based on use levels Properly handling products to protect their value, and complete aisle clean-up as needed each shift Follow OSHA and safety standards, report violations to direct supervisor Other duties, as required Physical Demands Job requires employees to be able to stand for prolonged periods of time Repetitive, physically demanding work and regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle orfeel, and sort and load Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear Frequently required to lift and/or move excessive weight (50 pounds or more) Required to use and read computer and scanner screens, communicate required reporting Expected to maintain certain levels of productivity and accuracy

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend both written and oral information
  • Competence in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to operate equipment (Forklift, stock picker, two-wheeler, wrapping machine, dollies, carts)
  • Must be certified by Acorn Distributors on all equipment as required by OSHA within 90 days
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of six (6) months to (1) year of experience in a distribution center

Responsibilities
