About The Position

The Distribution Center (DC) Supervisor is responsible for managing operations at the Otis Elevator facility in Florence, SC. This role oversees the accurate and efficient flow of materials from receipt through contract completion and final job‑site delivery. The supervisor ensures the DC is properly staffed to meet daily shipment targets while maintaining high standards of quality, delivery, and EH&S performance. The ideal candidate has proven experience leading teams, a strong understanding of lean principles, and the ability to drive continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Knowledge of finish material, supplier T1 processes, inventory management, cycle counts, quality control, and efficient distribution practices.
  • Experience with material handling, including loading/unloading trucks, flatbeds, and straight trucks.
  • Proficiency with Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV): sit‑down forklift, reach truck, Manitou, scissor lift, pallet jacks.
  • Strong working knowledge of JDE scripts for receiving, shipping, cycle counting, put-away, field storage, location inquiry, printing, packing, and load building.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a sense of urgency and ability to drive results.
  • Ability to motivate, coach, and manage hourly associates.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams (Materials, Purchasing, Supply Management, Engineering, CLC, Finance, HR, EH&S, IT).
  • Solid understanding of lean principles and value stream ownership.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced planning and scheduling environment.
  • Flexibility to cross‑train across DC and shipping operations for both shifts.
  • Commitment to ACE operating system; ability to train employees while performing daily tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proven experience effectively leading a team and applying lean methodologies.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Previous experience leading a team of at least 10 employees required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Active listening and ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Respect for differing viewpoints and ability to share information effectively.
  • Leadership by example with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated safe work practices.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.

  • OSHA 10 certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Distribution Center operations across both shifts.
  • Lead and manage associates on 1st and 2nd shift.
  • Conduct daily operations meetings for both shifts.
  • Oversee daily schedules for shipping and receiving.
  • Manage receiving and put‑away processes.
  • Ensure cross‑dock operations meet the internal 24‑hour requirement for shipments.
  • Oversee job‑side, AMT, and MOD shipping activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and all safety policies.
  • Share and implement best warehouse practices.
  • Support budget development and manage expenses effectively.
  • Understand and meet customer labeling and packaging requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Train and support team members as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment through compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Perform hands‑on operational duties when required.
  • Support ACE culture (QCPC, Root Cause Analysis, Mistake Proofing).
  • Maintain daily cycle count accuracy at 99.5% or higher.
