About The Position

E2 Consulting Engineers is seeking experienced Distribution Inspectors to support natural gas distribution construction projects throughout the Denver Metro Area. The Distribution Inspector is responsible for monitoring construction activities to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong field inspection experience with natural gas distribution systems, polyethylene pipe installation, and construction documentation. This position supports a long-term program with a stable workload, strong safety culture, and opportunities for career growth through additional certifications and experience.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in natural gas distribution construction or inspection
  • Experience with polyethylene pipe installation and plastic fusion processes
  • Knowledge of gas distribution systems including low, medium, and high-pressure systems
  • Understanding of 811 utility locating procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Denver Metro area

Responsibilities

  • Inspect natural gas distribution construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements
  • Monitor installation of polyethylene pipe and confirm correct material specifications (including SDR ratings)
  • Observe and inspect plastic fusion operations including butt fusion, electrofusion, and saddle fusion
  • Inspect materials prior to installation for defects such as gouges or chatter marks
  • Ensure excavation activities comply with OSHA safety standards and project requirements
  • Verify all underground utilities are located prior to excavation activities
  • Monitor pressure testing, purging operations, and service installations
  • Inspect meter set assemblies, service transfers, and abandonments
  • Verify contractor Operator Qualifications (OQ) meet program requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation of construction activities using a web-based reporting system
  • Maintain daily inspection reports, field notes, and as-built documentation
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, project teams, agencies, and property owners
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, or construction deviations immediately to project management
