About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This job is located in Reading, PA and responsible for Meter Services work for the Distribution function of the Company. Standardized Summary of Responsibilities: Meter Services Demonstrate and direct a solid commitment to all aspects of safety. Assist in providing information and/or responding to formal/informal PUC complaints, legislative complaints and claims requests. Schedule work and resolve issues in CREWs and FieldNet; support other areas with CREWs, FieldNet and ZCMW issues. Work with various groups on items such as: Call Center and Distribution Control Center to resolve issues Electrical Construction and Maintenance (EC&M), designers, and line schedulers for design requests issues and scheduling Customers for MRMX (Meter Mix) and MRFL (Foreign Load Requests) to set up appointments Shared metering on MRFL/MRMX issues, meter reading to resolve access issues, and Asset Records on ZCMW (SAP Meter Allocation associated with a DR) and POFU (Power-on follow up) issues Line and EC&M departments (utilizing Click) for processing line DRs and ZCMWs. Revenue Operations on dunning issues Meter Services after linemen remove/exchange damaged meters in the field Assist in coordinating Distributed Generation (DG) customer meter work with Engineering and Design. Assist with scripting issues and create the proper work type regarding CNET procedures for work requests with Engineering and Customer Contact Center. Assist in the performance of plant-to-plant transfer to move inventory. Create letters for issues such as access, bushes, or meter base problems for employees in other departments. Review inventory levels and select appropriate materials. Perform MDT maintenance, i.e., enter help desk tickets, keep track daily of MDT sync for sync report metrics, maintain the functions of the MDT, and re-initialize Cascade. Create meter work SAP notifications and schedule field personnel to locate and investigate meters reported by meter readers and others. Assist with processing case-by-case SAP notifications that do not process (errors, field follow up, billing problems, research using county auditor website to obtain public record contact information for vacant properties etc.). Provide assistance to field personnel such as contact with field crews, fleet mechanics, dispatch unsafe conditions and same day orders, and answer telephone inquiries from the field crews. Address inactive meters in the field. Assist during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various off-site locations as well as FirstEnergy office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested. Attend all required regulatory training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering Technology or related discipline preferred) plus 0-1 years of related work experience. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, minimum of 2 years related work experience is required. Related work experience is knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.
  • Gain knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Gain an understanding of the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and Manual of Operations and the practical application in the workplace.
  • Gain knowledge of: The purpose, function, and operating characteristics of equipment, and residential, commercial, and utility electrical distribution and control systems, Construction methods, maintenance practices, service practices, standards and procedures, Procedures and processes for the acquisition of materials, equipment and tools
  • Gain an understanding and knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements as appropriate.
  • Develop, collect, organize, and analyze information from a variety of sources to develop reports, and provide information on backlog and productivity
  • Professionalism to work with engineer and management personnel, as well as interface and work cooperatively with customers, contractors and the general public, in a courteous manner that demonstrates FirstEnergy’s rules of engagement.

  • Gain experience with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, geographical information system (GIS), customer request work scheduling (CREWS), power outage reporting system (PowerOn), computer aided drafting (CAD/AutoCAD) and Energy Delivery Outage Application is preferred.
  • Must have a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required and possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with database query tools (Hyperion/BRIO, Business Explorer Analyzer (BEX), Cognos); experience using Visual Basic is a plus.
