About The Position

We anticipate the need for one or more District Representative Troubleman(s) at our Blair Service Center in Blair, WI. The starting base Journeyman pay for this position is $62.57 hourly (2025 rate). This position will be posted for 15 Working days from March 12, 2026, to April 1, 2026. Summary In this position, you will perform all duties of District Representative Troubleman classification involving overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems, as well as performing substation switching. The person filling this position must be self-motivated, work well with others, possess a positive attitude, and committed to creating customer satisfaction through quality customer service.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Technical School Lineman degree is preferred
  • Must presently be qualified as a Journeyman Lineman and have a working knowledge of all phases of Distribution and Transmission Construction, Maintenance and Operating
  • Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks and groundwork with utility crews is required
  • Must be able to work at heights up to and above 100 feet
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Participation in after-hour emergency callouts in all kinds of weather conditions
  • Must be committed to working safely and compliance with all company safety rules
  • Must be of adequate physical stature to perform routine physical labor associated with line work, including but not limited to: lifting, climbing, working in confined spaces, operation of equipment
  • Willing to travel and work away from home
  • Must reside within 20-mile radius of assigned service center within the first 6 months of hire
  • Must be committed to working safely and compliance with all company safety rules
  • Ability to successfully work with customers on a wide range of concerns
  • Representing Xcel Energy to public officials and the general public
  • Must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR parts 382 and 391 including the possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A
  • This position is subject to D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program
  • Must be able to perform work in confined spaces and be able to safely lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds
