About The Position

The Dive Operations Supervisor is responsible for SSA training new divers , monitoring and the safety of company dive equipment and procedures as well as the inspection and maintenance of underwater equipment and structures. More specific duties include the following: MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Teach classes and administer testing of divers in use of Surface Air Supply. Classes and tests will take place both written and in the field. Audit safety practices of dive crews. Including scheduled and random checks to ensure all crew members are knowledgeable of emergency procedures and capable of implementing if necessary. Inspect dive vessels and dive equipment to ensure proper maintenance and repairs are carried out. Log all inspections and trainings with Human Resources and monitor expirations of recurring trainings and exercises. Work with farm managers to coordinate crews and equipment to maximize company efficiency. Act as the fill in DPIC / Diver as needed to ensure crews are operating at maximum compacity. Safety, rules, and policies- crew education on rules, policies and safety procedures. Perform bi-annual air quality tests and annual umbilical pressure tests. Participate in meetings within the company and outside of the company. These range from inner company planning meetings to industry seminars and meetings. Coordinate with Farm Directors to ensure knowledge of underwater equipment is comprehensive. Including inspecting and maintaining: Mooring Lines Mussel raft, floating bag and FLUPSY screw anchors/blocks Hatchery intakes Large vessels which may requires divers for maintenance/repair Develop and maintain standard operation procedures for all geoduck dive operations (tube install, planting, tube pulling, harvest) Educate diver’s and DPIC’s in standard operation procedures. Train with and operate ROV for inspecting underwater assets where applicable. ?? Work with upper management to develop long range plan for dive operations. May be required to work at other sites and locations as needed. May be required to do other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Broad experience and knowledge of diving SSA and SCUBA
  • Ability and willingness to continue education and training to increase the safety and efficiency of Taylor dive operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to train and motivate individuals
  • Extensive knowledge of SSA dive equipment and procedures
  • Pass training (SCUBA, SSA, boat operator certification, ROV operator)
  • Must have Wash. State boaters card, Wash. State driver's license with clean driving record to qualify for company insurance policy
  • 21 years or older
  • Drug Tested position
  • Open Water SCUBA certification
  • Commercial SSA Dive certification
  • CPR & O2 administration certification
  • SDI Dive Master certification
  • SSA Dive Instructor accreditation
  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven terrain up to 8 hours per day.
  • The employee may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat 30 percent of the time
  • The employee needs to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (Regularly required to exert up to 20lbs or force, frequently required to exert up to 50 lbs. of force, occasionally required to exert up to 125 lbs. of force)
  • The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers
  • Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
  • Must have agility and balance to safely climb on machines, boats, etc.
  • Ability to drive approximately two hours per day to multiple locations

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree preferred
  • Aquaculture or farming experience is preferred
  • Degree or Equivalent Experience: Formal education will make a candidate stronger for the position, and experience within the aquaculture industry is also a strong attribute
  • Past Experience: (Driving forklift, Shellfish Farming, CDL, Boat operating, etc.)
