In this project, we use cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to directly visualize the earliest stages of ice formation after controlled exposure to atmospheric pollutants like acid. By comparing clean and polluted conditions, we identify how contaminants modify ice nucleation pathways, growth behavior, and structure. This work provides new insight into aerosol–cloud interactions and supports improved understanding of how human activities impact weather and climate systems.
