About The Position

Leidos Office of the Chief Information Officer is seeking a Domain Architect. This position is ideally based in Reston, VA; however, highly qualified candidates may be considered for remote work within the U.S. POSITION SUMMARY: The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) reports into the Digital Modernization Sector and collaborates across organizational lines to deliver effective enabling digital capabilities to our global employee base. The OCIO team develops, deploys, and manages innovative digital capabilities leveraging industry-leading partnerships and cost-effective deployment and management models. The OCIO is seeking leaders to drive efficient delivery and management, more opportunities for innovation, and facilitate data-driven decisions across the enterprise. As a Domain Architect, your responsibilities are aimed at aligning IT with business objectives, optimizing technology investments, and driving the development and realization of a robust and flexible IT architecture that supports the organization's long-term goals. The candidate should possess strong knowledge of the applications architecture domain, and its relationship to business architecture and data architecture domains. A basic technical understanding of IT infrastructure and information security is also necessary. Additionally, communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills are crucial for collaborating with diverse teams and driving successful outcomes.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in a Business or Information Technology field and 15+ years of related government contracting and commercial IT experience; additional years of professional work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership role on large enterprise application modernization and business transformational initiatives.
  • Experience evaluating an application portfolio or business transformational proposal for technology risks and opportunities.
  • Hands on experience with using an application roadmap.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including briefings to senior leaders, technical and non-technical audiences, on information technology topics.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate across senior-level teams to persuade, coordinate, and develop consensus in a collegial and efficient manner.
  • Ability to influence internal peers and stakeholders to promote the adoption of architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and demonstrated poise and ability to act calmly and effectively in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Support a full-time work location in the National Capital Region with travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Demonstrated experience in modeling the Leidos values.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital engineering and architecture tools.
  • Experience working within an enterprise architecture organization
  • An enterprise architecture related certification, e.g., TOGAF
  • Masters in a Business or Technology field.
  • Internal information technology experience at an enterprise having federal government DFARS and CAS requirements.
  • Experience interacting with Executive Leadership.
  • Experience with Internal Audit and ensuring SOX and other regulatory framework compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Standards and Best Practices: Support the Chief Enterprise Strategy Architect to define and promote the adoption of applications architectural standards and best practices across the organization. This includes collaboration with Data, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity domain architects to ensure consistency, interoperability, and scalability of IT systems and solutions.
  • Applications roadmap: Develop and maintain roadmaps that outline the evolution of enterprise applications. This includes collaboration with application Service Level Managers and corporate department leaders to understand business problems & opportunities, identify emerging technologies and supplier offerings, assessing their impact, and aligning them with architectural principles and business outcomes.
  • Demand Qualification: Work closely with Service Level Managers to provide architectural guidance during OCIO Demand Ideation and Qualification steps. This involves reviewing proposed solution architectures and concept of operations, assessing technical feasibility, and ensuring alignment with architecture standards and business outcomes.
  • Independent Reviews: On large transformational initiatives, perform an independent review of project team artifacts required for the initiating phase to ensure alignment with architecture standards and expected business outcomes.
  • M&A Analysis: Advise on HCM, Payroll, CLM and ERP systems considerations during M&A due diligence and integration planning, ensuring IT value capture expectations are viable and met.
  • Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to IT teams and junior architects and engineers. This helps build organizational capabilities and ensures adherence to architectural principles and practices.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration and communication between different IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors. This includes facilitating discussions, resolving conflicts, and promoting a shared understanding of architectural goals and decisions.
