About The Position

Portfolio Management Responsibilities (85%) Manages and implements a robust mid-level donor program with a portfolio of between 300 and 400 donors and prospects to secure gifts with expected annual giving in the $1000 - $4999 range and enhance the pipeline of major donor prospects. Works with Resource Development Directors to transfer mid-level donors from their portfolios, manage those donors, monitors new donors who contribute between $1,000 and $5,000 to add them to the portfolio, research each for potential gift levels, and discuss major gift prospects identified with the Resource Development Director to develop a strategy and a cultivation plan. Develops, prioritizes, implements cultivates, and solicits, stewardship strategies for the portfolio of donors that actively move donors through the giving cycle. Works to appropriately identify, qualify, cultivate, solicits, and stewards’ donors. Establishes a financial goal for each donor and creates a plan to reach that goal. Works to reach out to donors effectively and consistently via phone and email to advance their affinity, allegiance, and support. Works with Resource Development Directors to identify and then manage mid-level donors and 24 months lapsed major donors that have a high wealth rating Meets or exceed annual fundraising goals Meets or exceed activity matrix Administrative, Recordkeeping and Reporting Responsibilities (15%) Creates and present monthly reports that accurately reflect portfolio activity and performance. Develops correspondence for donors that keeps them informed and active in supporting the local command. Transfers mid-level donors to Resource Development Directors when annual gifts reach $5,000. Ensures that all donors and donor interactions are tracked accurately, and that individual gifts are acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner. Knowledge of The Salvation Army missions and philosophy Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of donor databases. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Knowledge of the English language including proper grammar and punctuation Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records. Ability to utilize the Internet and other databases for purposes of research and generating data. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in databases, spreadsheets, word processing, social media, and email. Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal and social skills and professional care in calling donors and soliciting gifts. Ability to demonstrate professionalism, perseverance, optimism, and positive attitude when working with donors and colleagues. Ability to demonstrate decisive and resourceful skills with the ability to be flexible with rapid change and anticipate and ack quickly on opportunities. Ability to inspire trust in others based on demonstrated integrity and intellectual honesty. Ability to demonstrate a high level of energy and emotional intelligence, and sensitivity to working with a group of diverse personalities from different cultures. Ability to work effectively in a team/matrixed-based environment by developing excellent relationships with remote colleagues and local team members. Ability to travel to field offices or Territorial Headquarters to participate in and/or lead training activities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to inspire trust in others based on demonstrated integrity and intellectual honesty. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to respond to and assist donors in a courteous and tactful manner. Ability to maintain an efficient and organized filing system to ensure that items can be retrieved in a timely manner. Ability to follow instructions, plan and organize work, and work under limited supervision. Ability to project a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. or three years progressively responsible experience supporting donors and maintaining donor data in a donor management system with demonstrated experience in effective donor relations and development, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
