Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of equivalent work experience in the field of database administration OR an Associates degree with concentration in data processing, data analysis, data science
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis techniques, database structures, and database theories.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and system design.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux server administration.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand the workflow of the Florida Voter Registration System and its ancillary applications, websites and sub systems.
  • Create queries and accurately interpret multiple data sets; write shell scripts to automate repetitive tasks in order to streamline workflow; analyze and develop PL/SQL packages and execute T-SQL and P-SQL queries; analyze business procedures and recommend specific types of data to improve processes.
  • Develop conceptual and logical data models, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies to optimize statistical efficiency; provide BDIS staff with data resources from election related databases needed for case intake, investigation and management; transform specialized data into formatted reports.
  • Proposes and implements failover strategies. Performs or tasks database patches. Performs or tasks database upgrades and implements new features. Schedules the monitoring of successful database back-ups. Performs database restores as required.
  • Responsible for conducting low level monitoring, access control, and performance of BDIS databases; overall solution configuration; database and related systems architecture, availability planning, including Disaster Recovery; monitor all database environments for capacity, integrity, and efficiency.
  • Performs database tuning as needed to address performance issues; conducts proactive maintenance. Responsible for analysis and query execution plans and index utilization. Assists in the development of new applications, including system design, creation of tables, and setting performance metrics. Implement database schema modifications as required.
  • Maintain change logs for all database configuration updates and changes for all database servers. Maintain change logs for user accounts and ensure security standards are implemented.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.
