About The Position

The Vermont Division of Fire Safety is seeking a team-orientated licensed master plumber to join our team as a Plumbing & Heating Inspector in our Williston Regional Office. This position will be tasked with conducting field-based inspections of plumbing installations in new construction and existing buildings. The ideal candidate must be able to multitask efficiently and have strong computer and technical skills along with extensive plumbing code knowledge. Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the Regional Manager.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience in plumbing inspection, engineering, or building trades.
• OR
• ICC Plumbing Inspector Certification.
• Successful applicants must achieve natural and propane gas and oil burner certificate of fitness within one (1) year of employment.
• All candidates must pass a security clearance conducted by the Department of Public Safety, including a motor vehicle and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Associates degree or higher in engineering, environmental safety, industrial health or physical science.

Responsibilities

• Performing inspections of plumbing installations to confirm compliance with the plumbing code
• Providing plumbing code support to field-based fire inspectors and plans examiners
• Investigation of complaints alleging improper or unsafe plumbing installations
• Performing inspections of gas and oil piping systems
• Performing inspections of hydronic heating systems and associated appliances
• Providing advisement to the State Plumbers Licensing Examining Board as requested
