We are looking for a Junior Designer onsite at our Port Colborne ON., location to support the Hebeler-Howard Marten (HHM) division. This full-time, exempt position is responsible for the coordination and completion of assigned engineering projects including analyzing customer requirements for equipment selection. The Designer is responsible for accurate modeling and creation of associated customer and manufacturing documentation for an assigned project while working under the direction of senior designers. Serve as point of contact between on-site production staff and remote located design team.

Requirements

  • 2yr associates degree in related field.
  • Strong knowledge and proficient in, SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, PDM software.
  • General knowledge of mechanical design & drawing, fluid mechanics, piping systems, tubing, hydraulic diagrams, welding techniques, manufacturing dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Detail oriented approach to tasks.
  • Adherence to Workplace Safety instructions/procedures, including knowledge and understanding of Ontario Health & Safety Act, Section 28, Worker Responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel to the US to support our production facility in Tonawanda, New York. Travel demands are expected to be less than 6 times per year.

Responsibilities

  • Creating 3D models and/or 2D drawings of industrial fluid handling systems.
  • Preparing and completing customer and manufacturing drawings.
  • Reviewing and incorporating project design requirements and specifications.
  • Drafting of piping, structural steel, vessels and other related components.
  • Preparing manufacturing material lists.
  • Selecting fasteners, gasket materials and structural materials.
  • Interacting with production personnel to address questions and design issues, ensure design for manufacturability, and document feedback.
  • Assisting other departments as required for design-related tasks.
  • Resolving technical concerns associated with design in cooperation with Project Engineers, and Project Manager(s).
  • Performing other related duties as required by management.
