About The Position

American Residential Services (ARS) is the nation’s largest provider of residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services, employing over 7,000 professionals nationwide. With more than 45 years of experience, ARS delivers trusted home services and industry-leading solutions to homeowners and businesses across the country. We are seeking an experienced Drain & Dig Manager to lead our residential sewer, drain, and excavation operations. This role oversees drain technicians and excavation crews responsible for sewer line repairs, drain replacements, and underground plumbing work. This position operates under the license of the Plumbing Service Manager while managing the day-to-day operations of the drain and excavation division with the support of the General Manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of drain, sewer, excavation, or underground plumbing experience
  • Strong knowledge of drain systems, sewer lines, excavation practices, and underground plumbing repairs
  • Familiarity with local plumbing codes and excavation safety requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage crews, schedules, job costs, and equipment effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing drain cleaning or sewer replacement crews preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and manage drain technicians and excavation crews
  • Oversee sewer line replacements, drain repairs, underground plumbing work, and excavation projects
  • Coordinate scheduling, dispatching, and job assignments for drain and dig teams
  • Provide estimates and review proposals for sewer replacements, trenching, and underground plumbing projects
  • Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and excavation standards
  • Manage job costs, materials, equipment, and labor to meet department production and profit goals
  • Conduct job site inspections to ensure workmanship and safety standards are met
  • Coordinate with homeowners, inspectors, municipalities, and internal departments to ensure successful project completion
  • Maintain inventory and oversee specialized equipment used for drain cleaning and excavation operations
  • Track department performance metrics including production, revenue, and crew efficiency
  • Provide coaching and development for drain technicians and excavation crews
