About The Position

Heart of America Beverage is seeking energetic candidates to join our delivery team as a driver trainee in Springfield. If you enjoy a fast paced and dynamic environment, this job may be for you. This position works four days per week and is home every night. Applicants for the Driver Trainee position must be 21 years of age, have a CDL Class A permit and have a clean Motor Vehicle Record. Upon hire the individual will begin a combination training process that will include working with the Driver Training Manager learning the proper and safe use of a two-wheeler, working an account, rotation, and display building and working with the Driver Training Manager or established route driver to learn how to conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspection, safe handling of a tractor trailer, lift gate operation (including electric pallet jack safety), and dock/alley backing. In lieu of paying for CDLA training the Driver Trainee will sign an agreement to work for HOA for two years starting the date they received their CDLA.

Requirements

Driver Trainees for Heart of America Beverage are required to have a Class A Commercial Drivers’ Permit.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods while driving; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, balance, crawl, or crouch; lift above head; lift heavy items, up to 40 pounds on a regular basis and frequently up to a 185-pound keg; regularly push/pull 250 pounds with the assistance of a two-wheel dolly, product cart or other mobile equipment; tolerate going back and forth from hot to cold temperatures; climb up and down from cab and trailer of truck; and talk, see, and hear.
Must have a valid and clean driver’s license
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
This position requires the driver trainee to have a strong work ethic, be detail oriented, quality focused, self-motivated, and work in a team-oriented environment.
Driver Trainees must be able to pass a DOT physical, pass a DOT Drug test, a motor vehicle records check, and a previous employment DOT records check upon obtaining their Class A License.
Potential drivers are now also subject to a CSA background check to be eligible.
Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

Pre-trip and Post-trip DOT required inspection
Maintaining required DOT time logs
Safe handling of company truck in many territories in Southwest Missouri
Bringing product into assigned accounts with a two wheeled dolly
Providing courteous customer service
Stock rotation, shelf replenishment, and display building
Current and past due bill collecting
Verify correctness of order coming into account
Communicate with Salesman and Driver Supervisor all issues regarding your equipment or route
Keep the equipment, tractor and trailer, clean
Follow correct check in procedures at the end of the route
Other duties may be assigned as necessary
