About The Position

Drivers at the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota collect donations of used clothing and household items in a box truck supplied by the organization. During a typical day you are generally handling bags and boxes in 20-30 pound increments, loading into a truck an average total of 3,000-5,000 lbs of goods per day and unloading that same amount. You can expect to move in and out of your truck 80-120 times per day. As with all driving jobs, you will occasionally work in adverse weather conditions such as rain, heat and snow. What we're looking for:  Reliability and a good work ethic. We want team members who take pride in their hard work.  A clean driving record.  Able to pass a background check.  Able to pass a drug test. What you're looking for:  A Monday-Friday schedule. Drivers start their day at 7:15am and wrap up when their route is done. Days will typically end anywhere between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Due to seasonal fluctuations, your days made end before or after these times.  Pay and benefits. Starting hourly rate is $22 per hour plus bonus. Drivers receive a generous benefits package including medical and dental insurance and a retirement plan with employer contributions.  Workday independence. Drivers spend most of their day on their own, after working with other drivers to unload trucks each morning.  An employer that prioritizes safety. We have safety policies require safety training. Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and DOT certification (DOT certification can be obtained at time of hire)
  • Driving record must be in continuous good standing as determined by EFMN's insurance carrier
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to a work schedule
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Obeys all traffic laws, as well as federal and state DOT regulations. Represents EFMN in a professional manner.
  • Completes collection routes accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensures truck is in proper working condition and reports any issues. Keeps truck clean and orderly.
  • Records relevant information on truck reports and maintains accurate accounting of the workday.
  • Loads and unloads trucks in a timely, safe manner. Observes OSHA, state and federal safety regulations.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries to appropriate parties immediately.
  • Uses available maps and computer software to plan collection routes effectively.
  • Follows directions from supervisors and dispatchers. Communicates issues clearly and professionally with supervisors.
  • Works well with fellow drivers on routes and during unloading.
  • Works to accomplish team goals and shows willingness to help other drivers.
