About The Position

Scope of Responsibilities: The Drug Information Pharmacist serves as a critical member of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) team, responsible for synthesizing and delivering accurate, evidence-based drug information to support formulary development and clinical decision-making. This role ensures the integrity of drug monographs, therapeutic class reviews, and formulary documentation while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The position will create draft reviews for submittal to Drug Information Manager for approval prior to delivery to P&T committee. Job Summary: The Drug Information Pharmacst will research, analyze, and synthesize clinical data to develop formulary recommendations and support P&T Committee activities. This individual will monitor FDA approvals, safety alerts, and pipeline developments, ensuring timely updates to formulary content. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex clinical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy and evidence-based medicine
  • Drug Information Analysis: Ability to critically evaluate clinical literature, guidelines, and comparative effectiveness data.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of FDA regulations, safety alerts, and compliance requirements for formulary processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with drug information databases (e.g., Medispan, First Data Banks) and formulary management tools.
  • Data Analytics: Ability to interpret formualry data structures and communicate data effectively with finance and analytics teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication for preparing P&T materials and presenting to committees.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with clinical, financial, and operational teams to align formulary decisions with organizational goals.
  • Problem-Solving: Strategic thinking to balance clinical and financial considerations in formulary development.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Active Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license in good standing.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in drug information, formulary management, or managed care pharmacy.
  • Strong background in evidence-based medicine and clinical literature evaluation.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Drug Information or Managed Care Pharmacy residency.
  • Advanced training or certification in pharmacotherapy, formulary management, or evidence-based medicine.
  • Experience in managed care organizations, PBMs, or GPOs.
  • Exposure to cost-effectiveness analysis and integration of clinical insights with financial considerations.
  • Prior involvement in pipeline monitoring and formulary strategy development.
  • Experience collaborating with analytics and finance teams for rebate and formulary optimization.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and presenting clinical content for Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committees.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and evaluate clinical evidence for medications and therapeutic classes.
  • Develop and maintain drug monographs, comparative effectiveness analyses, and formulary recommendations for P&T Committee review.
  • Prepare and present clinical content to Drug Information Manager for P&T Committee meetings, including therapeutic class reviews and formulary change proposals.
  • Monitor FDA approvals, safety alerts, and pipeline developments to inform formulary strategy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date formulary documentation and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards related to formulary management and P&T processes.
