About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer to support our Asheville, NC location. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Perform engineering investigations and design support tasks under the direction of senior engineering professionals Perform laboratory and field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes, and standards Collect soil samples, prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports Observe and document routine construction operations and write routine field reports Assist and observe contractor work on construction projects and interact with client, contractor or subcontractor representatives accordingly Perform a variety of non-technical tasks designed to assist others in preparing for and/or conducting office, laboratory or field activities

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-1 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work both independently and within groups
  • Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software - AutoCAD, GINT, Slide, etc.
  • FE/EIT (or ability to obtain EIT within 1 year) required
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Some prior experience in field and laboratory testing, geotechnical drilling, or construction inspection.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and practices.
