About The Position

The Director of Early Intervention and Inclusion Programs provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and program accountability for all Early Intervention (EI) and Inclusion services. This role ensures high-quality, equitable, and compliant services for children ages 0–5 and their families across home-, community-, and center-based settings. The Director is responsible for program strategy, staff performance, productivity monitoring, contract compliance, budget oversight, and client outcomes. This leader ensures that Felton’s Early Intervention and Inclusion programs operate effectively, meet funding and regulatory requirements, maintain high levels of client satisfaction, and advance best practices in early childhood inclusion. Programs under this role may include Early Connections (SEEDS), Speech and Language Therapy, Preschool Intervention, Developmental Screening, center-wide Social Emotional and Positive Behavior Supports, and other Inclusion Support services.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Mental Health, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience (preferably with a non-profit or education setting) overseeing Early Intervention or Early Childhood Special Education programs/services in staff supervision, program management, program evaluation, budget development/management and provision of services in support of children and families
  • PLUS a minimum of 5 years experience working with children with special needs from birth to five years, and their families, using assessment, teaching and other professional skills related to this position
  • Must be knowledgeable about child development (typical and atypical), developmental delays and disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, early intervention services and supports, special education, inclusive practices, screening, assessment and individual program development for children and families
  • Must be familiar with a range of Early Intervention service delivery models
  • Must have thorough knowledge of title V, Title 22, Title XVII
  • Must be able to demonstrate quality organization, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to document program activity and submit appropriate statistics and program utilization to funding agents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Superior verbal/ written skills and presentation skills. Good punctuation, spelling, grammar, and attention to detail a must. Strong interpersonal skills essential
  • Possess the leadership, people skills and versatility to effectively build relationships across a broad spectrum of personalities.

  • Ability to work independently under broad supervision
  • Must pass a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and a Child Abuse Index clearance, Health Screening and TB Test as required by licensing
  • Ability to lift 25 – 40 pounds as needed every day; this includes children and equipment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit on floor, lower, and raise self from floor during classroom activities, and to use both hands to grasp securely on a consistent basis. Can move quickly in order to respond to an emergency situation
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the cultural background of the children and families being served
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (required)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes day, evening, weekend, as appropriate, to coordinate and provide services and activities for families during non-traditional hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) Therapist (highly preferred)
  • Trained or certified in specific intervention approaches such as, ABA, PRT, PECS, DIR/ Floortime, Routines-Based Intervention, Positive Behavior Support, Functional Behavior Assessments, and Interventions, Hanen programs, etc (highly preferred)
  • Knowledge of and experience with using Reflective Supervision (highly preferred)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all Early Intervention and Inclusion programs.
  • Ensures the effective day-to-day operation of EI and Inclusion programs and monitors quality across all services.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, and professional development for a multidisciplinary team of Early Intervention and Inclusion staff.
  • Ensures financial sustainability and responsible stewardship of program budgets.
  • Ensures all Early Intervention programs comply with regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Promotes strong relationships with families and ensures services meet the needs of children and caregivers.
  • Represents Felton as a leader in Early Intervention and Preschool Inclusion.
  • Leads program evaluation efforts to ensure services are effective and responsive to community needs.
  • Maintain documentation related to staff supervision, performance, and professional development.
  • Ensure timely submission of program reports and data requests.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and funding opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the growth and success of Early Intervention and Inclusion services.
