About The Position

As an Early Learning Center (ELC) Cleaning Specialist at Pathfinder, you play a vital role in creating a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. Your work directly supports infection prevention, cleanliness, and overall well-being—ensuring our Early Learning Center remains a place where children can learn and grow with confidence. As an Early Learning Center (ELC) Cleaning Specialist at Pathfinder, You Will: Facility Cleaning & Sanitation Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming (including daily carpet vacuuming) Clean and disinfect horizontal surfaces, phone headsets, door handles, light switches, restroom fixtures, sinks, and drinking fountains Clean and restock restrooms to ensure hygiene and safety standards are met Clean waste receptacles inside and out with germicidal cleaner and change liners daily Collect, bag, and dispose of trash in designated dumpsters Perform heavy cleaning duties such as washing walls and glass as needed Health, Safety & Infection Prevention Follow daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cleaning schedules Support infection control practices to reduce the spread of illness Assist with salting sidewalks during winter months to promote safe access Implement safety and emergency procedures in alignment with agency policy Documentation & Team Participation Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and in-service opportunities Maintain documentation and complete assigned administrative tasks Follow employee handbook guidelines and agency procedures Collaborate with leadership and team members to maintain a clean, organized facility The Impact You’ll Make as an Early Learning Center (ELC) Cleaning Specialist: Help protect the health and safety of children, families, and staff Support a positive learning environment by maintaining clean, organized spaces Reduce the spread of infection through consistent sanitation practices Contribute to Pathfinder’s mission by ensuring a safe and welcoming facility What to Expect in This Role: A dynamic early childhood environment that may be fast-paced with interruptions and changing priorities Physical requirements including the ability to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and push or pull against potential resistance Adequate vision, writing, and documentation skills to perform the essential functions of the position Exposure to cleaning products and sanitation equipment A schedule that may require flexibility based on center needs Pathfinder’s mission is to strengthen communities by enabling people with disabilities or economic challenges to achieve autonomy, inclusion, and stability.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Basic language, written, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation
  • Ability to speak, hear, and read the English language
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, if needed
