Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) Manager Okta is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) Manager , owning and driving the GEO strategy and execution for the entire Okta and Auth0 web ecosystem . This is a highly visible and crucial role in the marketing organization, requiring an experienced SEO leader from an enterprise in-house or agency environment. The ideal candidate is a self-driven leader with a focus on results and the ability to execute through project management and collaboration with key stakeholders. This person is passionate and curious about search, AI, and the future of organic visibility. The ideal candidate is the type of person who looks at the data every week and asks probing questions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience demonstrating advanced SEO/GEO expertise in an enterprise environment (in-house or agency side).
  • Operate with minimal supervision , taking full ownership of the role and proactively solving problems and identifying opportunities
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects effectively, meeting both deadlines and quality standards while triaging needs based on business impact.
  • Experience with SEMRush AIO, Adobe LLMO, or any other GEO tool, such as Profound or Peec is required.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills , with the ability to communicate sophisticated data and strategies clearly to collaborators at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with global brands and expertise in international SEO and localization needs is a strong plus.
  • Background in the Identity and Access Management (IAM), B2B marketing, SAAS, or the cybersecurity domain is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • GEO Strategy Ownership: Serve as the primary owner for GEO strategy and execution for both Okta and Auth0, adapting to a fast-changing organic search landscape. This includes developing and aligning strategy across all relevant international properties that aligns with overall business objectives and anticipated shifts in Generative AI.
  • Visionary Leadership: Operate as a GEO leader who can articulate a strategic vision for GEO/AEO and translate it into clear, prioritized execution roadmap bringing together.
  • Team & Stakeholder Collaboration: Manage execution by collaborating closely with key stakeholders across Content teams, Development, Digital Strategy, Communications, and Product Marketing to align important metrics and boost GEO impact through owned, earned, and influenced channels.
  • Evangelism & Training: Drive internal adoption by conducting trainings, developing best practices documents, engaging in speaking opportunities, and evangelizing the importance and impact of GEO to internal teams at all levels.
  • AI Integration: Champion the effective use of AI in workstreams and analysis to increase efficiency and scale impact.
  • AI Concept Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate working knowledge of how LLMs function and confidently speak to concepts such as vector embeddings, entities, RAG, grounding, query fan-out, chunks, passages, citations, and prompts.
  • GEO Content Strategy: Understand how content must be shaped for LLM visibility and how to identify opportunities, while adhering to brand and quality standards. Structure content for chunk-level retrievability in LLMs and test visibility in AI search platforms. Implement trust signals and structured markup that boost AI citation and retrieval. Develop machine-parsable content blocks aligned to semantic density and AI answer formats.
  • Data-Driven Execution: Maintain a rigorous data-driven approach, correlating cause-and-effect relationships in GEO/AEO performance, and driving action based on weekly data analysis.
  • Digital PR/Offsite Marketing: Know how 3rd party sources play a role in GEO/AI search visibility and strategize opportunities with relevant teams.
  • Technical SEO: Identify technical opportunities to help with GEO and communicate effectively to development teams.
  • Competitive Analysis: stay abreast of competitors and routinely analyze data to further the growth of Okta’s GEO initiatives.
  • Reporting & Insights : Use available data resources and tools to determine KPIs, develop regular reporting systems, and be able to showcase actual GEO implementations and wins to senior leadership audiences.
