About The Position

Provides emergency patient care, supervises other licensed or certified personnel, and supervises pre-hospital personnel. The staff nurse functions within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act of North Carolina.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Current licensure in the state of North Carolina or Compact State as a Registered Professional Nurse
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire
• PALS certification required within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

• Preferred two (2) years Med/Surg, ER, or ICU experience

Responsibilities

• Rapidly and accurately assess the patient’s needs and establish priorities of care.
• Prescribe appropriate nursing interventions to facilitate patient care.
• Review patient medical and social history.
• Determine appropriate nursing actions to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Evaluate course of action in a timely manner to ascertain effectiveness of nursing interventions
• Promptly recognize and report clinical problems, changes in condition, or adverse reactions to the Emergency Department physician
• Elevate concerns to charge nurse, Assistant nurse manager, or Director as appropriate, reporting problems through the chain of command
