About The Position

The Healthcare Interoperability Analyst is responsible for the technical development, implementation, and maintenance of electronic data exchange interfaces between the Seattle Children's Enterprise (Epic) and external entities, including insurance payers, clearinghouses, and financial institutions. This role ensures the secure and accurate transmission of mission-critical data by utilizing a hybrid of legacy ANSI X12 EDI standards and modern RESTful APIs within the FHIR framework. By managing both real-time and batch-driven transaction sets, the Analyst supports the integrity of end-to-end revenue cycle workflows, from front-end eligibility verification to back-end claims adjudication.

Requirements

  • Associates’ degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience in healthcare data systems may be considered.
  • EDI Expertise: Minimum of 2 years of experience managing ANSI X12 transaction sets (specifically 837, 835, 270/271, and 278) within a healthcare or insurance environment.
  • System Knowledge: Prior experience with enterprise EHR systems (e.g., Epic Prelude, Resolute, Payer Platform, Bridges, or Tapestry) and relevant EDI mapping tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Bachelors degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience in healthcare data systems may be considered.
  • More than two years' experience managing ANSI X12 transaction sets (specifically 837, 835, 270/271, and 278) within a healthcare or insurance environment.
  • Hands-on experience with JSON data structures and RESTful API principles, with a strong preference for project experience implementing the HL7 FHIR standard.
  • HL7 CDA® Certification
  • HL7 FHIR Proficiency or WEDI EDI Certification
  • Previous experience collaborating with or managing a vendor relationship of an EDI company, such as an eligibility or claims management clearing house, in a revenue cycle setting.
