About The Position
The Janesville Gazette is seeking an experienced sports editor to lead our sports department and to work with other staff across southern Wisconsin. We’re seeking a seasoned editor with demonstrated success in managing a daily newspaper sports department and experience supervising sports reporters. The ideal candidate will have experience producing exceptional podcast, web and social media content. Photography skill is a bonus. Janesville is a city of 65,000 people with two public high schools and NCAA Division III athletics powerhouse UW-Whitewater just up the road. Top candidates will be passionate about high school and college sports and will also understand the importance Gazette readers place on national sports coverage. Finally, we’re seeking candidates who can drive coverage that goes beyond game play, to include sports feature and enterprise stories.
